A lot of PenFed credit cardholders have told me about an e-mail that they’ve recently received, it seems as almost everybody that hasn’t had much/any recent activity has received this e-mail. The subject line is ‘We Miss You’.
- Spend at least $1,000 with your PenFed credit card that received the e-mail by October 15th and you’ll receive a $100 bonus.
The Fine Print
- Must have received the targeted promotion to be able to get bonus
- Must complete spending by October 15th, 2015
Our Verdict
I love bonuses like these, it’s pretty easy to hit $1,000 in spend and you don’t need to waste another hard pull to get this card (as you already have it). PenFed is also offering the same bonus to new cardholders and offer some cards with 5x/5% on gas purchases, they also have a third party American Express card with no annual fee which is well worth hanging onto.

Did anyone get this for their AMEX premium rewards travel cc?
I haven’t used my PenFed Visa card in longer than a year and I did not receive this email. Is anyone else in the same situation?
Aww darn! I have not used it much in 2 years except for $1 transactions on Amazon once a month…but I was excluded from this offer.
I SM’ed Penfed about this. They told me it’s only for cardholders that have not used it in the last 12 months. And, no, they won’t give any bonus to existing cardmembers who do actively use their cards, I asked.
If true that sucks. I used my card 4 months ago for 4 transactions when I needed to purchase large volumes of gas and needed cash back instead of points/miles (I have the Reward Cash card and get DDs to my checking account with them so I still have 5% CB). Otherwise no transactions with them for almost 2 years. Really annoying as I only used it as a favor to a friend that wanted to buy gas for their boat when prices were low and I offered to help them save even more.
Actually, PenFed has 2 Amex cards. The second, the PenFed Defender American Express® Card, is not available to all members. You must be in military service, the National Guard, the Reserves, or an honorably discharged Veteran of the United States Military to apply.
I haven’t received the email yet. I have a recurring $75 charge on my Penfed card, and use it for relevant AMEX twitter deals. Perhaps I’ll call them and see if they can add it.
I received the email about a week ago as well. I was in the final month of my 0% balance transfer and had just paid it off. so i just started the spend to the 1000 and will accomplish pretty easily. THis is a card I stopped using since their deceptive devaluation a couple of years ago. I only used it for the 0% balance transfer and the ones that had a cap on the fee. which was $250 and with a 45k limit on this card the $250 was worth it for a 2 year 0%
Thanks for your reminder. I got this email about one week ago but I totally forgot it since I was too busy at work last week and there are a few minimal spend requirements for me to complete.
Now I need to find out where my Penfed card is. I haven’t use it since the devaluation of Penfed points.
