The Fine Print

  • 15% discount is offered at time of booking and only pertains to the cash cost of bookings
  • Must be a US Co-Branded Credit Card holder at the time of booking to be eligible for offer.
  • Bookings for The Venetian® and The Palazzo® hotels are excluded from discounts

Our Verdict

The way that IHG works is that you can pay cash to offset some of the points needed for an award night. For example:

  • Save 5,000 points & pay $40 ($34 with this discount)
  • Save 10,000 points & pay $70 ($59.50 with this discount)
  • Save 15,000 points & pay $99 ($84.15 with this discount)
  • Save 20,000 points & pay $125 (106.25 with this discount)

How useful this promotion is really depends on what sort of value you get out of IHG points. Personally I find 0.53¢ per point per point to be too rich for my blood, but that would dramatically change if I had a specific redemption in mind. Let me know your thoughts in the comments.

Cancellations

One of the quirks of IHG is that if you cancel a cash + points stay, you’ll receive your discount only in points rather than cash & points. This means that you can effectively use cash + points rates to purchase points. In terms of this promotion you could purchase points at 0.53¢ per point. Normally you’d be paying 0.625¢. To get this best rate you need to look at cash + points rates on a property that costs 60,000 points per night (e.g InterContinental New York).
