2,500 Southwest Bonus Miles for Using their Shopping Portal

The Offer

Direct Link

The Southwest RapidRewards shopping portal is offering a bonus for using their shopping portal in honor of the back-to-school season.

  • Spend $1,500 and get 2,500 bonus miles
  • Spend $500 and get 750 bonus miles
  • Spend $150 and get 250 bonus miles

All the bonus miles are on top of the regular portal earning which vary by store.

The Fine Print

  • Offer runs from 08/1/16 through 08/15/16 at 11:59:59 pm ET (the “Bonus Period”)
  • The $150/$500/$1,000 tiers are based on your cumulative purchases made during the Bonus Period
  • “Qualifying purchases” do not include returns, cancellations, shipping and handling, taxes, gift card or other cash equivalent purchases, and certain products that are not eligible for bonus miles

Our Verdict

Nice bonus of 1.5 – 1.66 extra miles per dollar on all shopping if you hit the exact tier amounts.

Points earned from the Southwest shopping portal DO count toward getting a Companion Pass, and these bonus points should count as well. I’ll be doing my eBay shopping using Southwest now for .5 miles per dollar + the bonus.

Remember that United also has a portal bonus offering which can yield you 2x extra, up to 2,000 bonus mile total. And Alaska is offering 2x extra, up to 1,500 bonus miles as well.

The United offer ends on the 12th, the Alaska offer on the 14th, and the Southwest offer on the 15th.

Is there a way to track how much you have spent at each portal? (other than an excel spreadsheet)

OT: In other shopping portal news, I got an email from shopathome.com that they will be discontinuing the 110% guarantee program tomorrow so today is the last day to get in those requests.

*IMPORTANT – PLEASE READ*
Effective Aug 2. 2016, ShopAtHome.com will no longer offer the 110% Cash Back Guarantee program. You may continue to submit 110% Cash Back Guarantee requests through Aug. 1, 2016.

The email is the reply you get when you request a cashback guarantee, so what I’ve shown is the only part of the email that mentions it’s discontinuation.

Any data point on whether buying gift cards on ebay count towards the bonus? The terms mention no gift cards, but sometimes it can still count 🙂
