[Reposted and updated 9/8/17 since Home Chef has lowered/removed their $10 shipping fee making this deal a moneymaker.]
The Offer
- Get 2,000 Swagbucks with your Home Chef order
- Home Chef has a special to get $30 off your first order
Here’s how to go about this deal:
- Order the 2/meals for 2 people option for $39.80
- Get the $30 discount
- Your total will come out to $9.80 shipped
- The 2,000 earned Swagbucks will cover that, plus net a $10 profit
Some people are getting a message that there is a $5 shipping fee for orders under $45 which leaves this a $5 moneymaker. Others are getting free shipping leaving this a $10 moneymaker. Yet others are seeing $10 shipping which leaves it a free food deal with no moneymaker.
The Fine Print
- SB for this offer awards instantly
- Offer may only be redeemed (1) one time per user
- Use of AdBlocking programs may prevent offer from crediting
Our Verdict
The Home Chef deal looks good on it’s own, and the Swagbucks juices it up considerably by making it a moneymaker since the 2,000 Swagbucks are worth a minimum of $20.
There’s also another idea given to make the deal a bit more interesting which as follows. After completing the order for $39.80, there’s an option to add on to the order. Add a smoothie for $4.95, which will be $9.90 for two. That will bring the order total to $49.70, and will trigger free shipping. Basically, you’re getting $10 in smoothies instead of the $10 shipping fee.
A few things to keep in mind:
- Remember to cancel before the second charge if you don’t want the service to continue. Keep in mind that the second charge hits just two days after the first, so cancel the future orders right away if you don’t want them. You can also pause delivery online before you get around to calling in and cancelling.
- Bear in mind that some people end up having problems either with the portal tracking or with Swagbucks deactivating their account for reasons which aren’t clear, so keep the risks in mind. In this case, specifically, the terms say the Swagbucks will post right away, and many readers report the same.
You’ll also see an offer pop up to get $10 toward a future order (not your first order); that could be useful if you want to go for a second order with Home Chef.
If you’re new to Swagbucks then please read our review. You can also get a bonus of up to $5 by using a referral link.
Hat tip to Slickdeals
I had 3K swagbucks offer somehow, and also AMEX 10 off 45 offer
I ended up ordering 4 meals with 2 servings on first order and hit $49ish, triggering AMEX offer.
Then I went under “Order History” and ensured no “Credit Balance” was left or “Remaining Balance” — so it’s a round 49 – 10 amex – 30 swagbucks = $9 for 8 servings for me!
Credited 2000 SB instantly. No promo on shipping for me (YMMV), but adding on the fruit (almost $10), removed the $10 shipping fee. CC charge was $19.80 then get 2000 SB.
I’m just doing it for 4 servings of food and few pieces of fruit. Get TUESDAY delivery so you have the most of amount of time to cancel before Friday cutoff of next delivery. Less than 2 minutes of legwork to cancel, all from web browser with no calls or email.

“You can select your meals after payment.”?!? Why would I give my credit card info *before* I get to figure out what I’m going to buy??
irritated the *$#(@ out of me too.
that plus I wasn’t getting the free shipping.
No deal
The SB tracked instantly for me. Thanks DoC!
Wonder if this would qualify for the ‘Restaurants’ Chase Freedom category. On my DoubleCash card it’s identifying as MISC FOOD STORE,SPECIALTY,CONVENIENCE
That doesn’t sound qualifying to me, but perhaps it is.
How the hell do you get to the offer. I’ve tried on safari chrome and IE and it just goes to a google search of home chef. Is this right or no? I think the direct link is wrong. Can anyone provide an alternative link to the offer…
Same here. May be dead?
Never mind. Got it working. Had to disconnect from my VPN.
Just a heads up, title typo reads “monemaker” 🙂
Thanks
free ship in Chicago and bucks posted instantly
no free ship*
You will get $10 order for future order. Contact customer care and skip first week delivery. Take delivery in 2nd week the credit will apply. You order 2 smoothies or 2 fruits extra using that $10
Why would you contact customer care when you can change your date in the “dashboard”? I’m asking mainly what you said when you contacted them.
First order is usually not changeable from dashboard. You have to send them a message. (unless I missed something of course)
Free shipping in SC but SB didn’t track.
When I clicked “view the offer”, it opened Google directly. I’ve tried on Safari, Chrome and my phone.
