[Expired] 5% Off All Gift Cards on Cardcash, Target at 7% Off

The Offer

  • Cardcash.com is offering 5% off many discounted gift card brands with code: ECODE5OFF at checkout. (HT: Dansdeals)
  • Update: Offer now valid on all gift card brands.

The code doesn’t work on everything (Exxon doesn’t work), but it works on Target and many others. Currently, there are many Target gift cards at 2% off; with the added promo, it’s ~7% off. Walmart is being sold at face value; get 5% off Walmart with the promo code.

Chase Ink cards have been earning 5x at Cardcash as well, both direct purchases and those paid with Paypal, and this can make the deal particularly interesting.

Expires 12/31.

It’s too bad Target no longer allows you to combine gift cards online. This makes buying Target gift cards online more troublesome. I used to be able to buy them in any value, verify the balance immediately, and transfer the funds to my own Target gift cards. I wonder why Target removed this feature.

All that’s left on the Cardcash site are small amounts. I’d only buy them if I can make a trip to a store and immediately use them.

I already have had several issues with gift cards from this site. On three different occasions the cards were drained. They do not verify the card before sending. They have always refunded me the $ but it is a pain. A very basic verification step would make customers a lot happier. I am certain they buy cards without checking their validity, its crazy.

The reason it doesn’t work for Exxon is that (as the site says) it’s only for ecodes, not for physical gift cards.

The code was also working for a physical Michael’s gc, so I think it does work for physical cards.

Thanks for the tip! I scooped up most of the $300 Target gift cards — probably from those who got them at 10% discount last week. That’s 7% discount + 5x UR reward. Nice!!

I just called ink and it does not consider the CardCash.com as a internet service company and does not qualify for 5%, could some one clarify this?

Seriously how far is your head in the clouds to call them and ask about 5%???

This isn’t me overlooking newbie behavior this is flat out lacking common sense.

Sorry for being simple-minded dumb a**hole, I should have used my common sense as you suggested!

Been there, done that Nancy. I too often wonder about the various reports that get circulated about this and that discount or double/triple dip working — etc — especially when they seem to run quite at odds with stated terms of this or that card. (e.g., discover deals) Quite ok to ask fellow hobbyists and players about it though…. for confirmation of what others have experienced…. (No guarantees though it will continue to work — and therein the risk and frustration at times, if you “rely” on tips others share, with good intent.)

In the end though, as Chuck suggests, it’s best not to draw too direct attention to such an unexpected bonus — as odds increase thereafter that such otherwise understandable inquiry t’wil inadvertently kill the deal, as it may have been working.

“Common sense” to the veterans perhaps, yet still less than clear cut.

@ Nancy

I’m not calling you an asshole or anything close to that. I stated in not so nice terms that you have to think before you act.

@ Will

Two things. First, relying on tips is as good as it gets in regards to being spoon fed information, which is completely fine. My point here is risk and possible frustration is the name of the game, and if you aren’t willing to take some of that on you don’t belong here.

I couldn’t disagree more regarding the common sense thing. Anyone dabbling or new to Churning and MS understands that we capitalize on opportunities. Anyone with a clue understands that the banks aren’t making money from us. If they are, it’s not much. By “us” I’m referring to those who never pay interest or late fees.

With that said, the point here is it’s common sense not to bring things up to a customer support representative that isn’t listed in their terms or bonus categories etc. While many probably don’t care enough to do more than their job, putting “eyes” on your account and being among the other callers who have brought this weird situation up to a rep may just push them to forward questions or concerns to their supervisor. You see where we’re going here? Every call matters.

I’ve screwed up before. You’ve done the same. None of us are perfect and we all learn. I’d hope that most would see the “do not call” thing is common sense if they actually take a moment to think about it. Worst case, hopefully others read our disagreement and we put “eyes” on the matter for other readers.

You can accomplish the same 7% for Target by going through TCB for Gyft (2%) then paying with Paypal and Ink for 5%

Perhaps. But what the posting suggests is 7% (2% regular price, 5% promo discount), then another 5% with the Ink card (ie 12% total).

How are you getting 2% through TCB at Gyft? They stopped offering cashback at Gyft for a while.

Dont do TCB at gyft. just use Gyft’s own rewards program for the 2% off.
