I applied again and like 2 months ago, got instantly denied. The only difference is there’s no hard inquiry on my Transunion this time.

I haven’t seen it become available ever. It’s hard enough to find 40k for West Coast – Hawaii so I doubt they’ll make it available for less than 80k.

My experience when I called to recon, it was done by Bank of Hawaii rep, not Barclay. The rep asked me why I applied for the card. I told him,”I just came back from Oahu, love it, and want to come back” 😀 Which was true, and he agreed with me.

Interesting trend of Barclay having increased miles on 3 of their major US airline cards as of now: 60k on AA Aviator Red,60k on JetBlue Plus and 50k on Hawaiian. Plus, their Lufthansa Miles & More is also 50k miles right now.

I applied and was approved. It listed $1,500 over 90 days, not the $1,000 listed above

If it wasnt for that $89 AF, I would bite….Although the card is fully churnable….

I had this card and I was able to waive the initial $89 fee (2015) and the second year fee (2016). I had to write a letter to Barclays in 2015 (but SM and phone call might work) and they credited me $89. In 2016, the annual fee was a retention offer. I ended up closing the card, but that’s another issue.

Per Reddit, you can get Maui Jim shades for 25k miles and they apply to all shades, even prescription, I think.

Never had them, but a friend does and they are pretty pricey. Potentially could get the $400 ones and re-sell or just keep.

I confirmed with a maui jim rep via chat on the maui jim website that the coupon you receive from Hawaiian Airlines is good only for non prescription sunglasses. Here is a link to the Hawaiian Air website detailing how it is 25,000 miles for a pair of sunglasses. You have to go to a certain website…I don’t think you can redeem the coupon for any pair as the most expensive pair was only around $325 or so and Maui Jim has more expensive sunglasses than that.
