Alaska Lounges To No Longer Allow Priority Pass Guest Access

Recently Alaska Lounges have had issues with overcrowding, because of this Priority Pass guests have often not been accepted. Priority Pass lounges clearly state that access might be restricted due to space constraints but these lounges will have new guest access rules from May 1st onwards. The following fine print has been added:

  • Effective 01MAY, due to capacity constraints, the lounge cannot accommodate accompanying guests at this time. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.

Lap infants (those under the age of 2) are not included in this restriction. If you pay for guest access then you will also not be restricted.

The following lounges are affected:

Lounge in Anchorage doesn’t seem to be affected. More and more premium cards are being introduced and all of these cards come with priority passes so over crowding becoming an issue shouldn’t be a surprise to anybody. If this policy change means these lounges will be accessible for the primary cardholder, I see this as good news as previously that was rarely the case.

DoC,

The Amex’s Global Lounge Collection (www.americanexpress.com/findalounge) still lists Alaska Lounge as “you may bring two guests for no charge.” You may search for LAX for example. Do you think it’s outdated or it exclusively applies to Platinum’s Priority Pass Select? It’s gonna be embarrassing to me if I bring my parents to the airport and then being declined to access.

Flyertalk rumor had AS PDX being removed from PP completely May 1 so this is actually better for PDX. That specific lounge has been reported to be very overwhelmed lately- it’s rarely open to PP, there’s usually a sign out saying they aren’t accepting PP. Once in a while PP holders are able to get in.

Rob W you are not missing anything, the PDX terminal is much nicer than the AlaskaAir lounge there.

I do wish they had allowed 1 guest for PP holders but at least they didn’t terminate the AS PP partnership!

Seattle Alaskan lounge all of a sudden no longer permits priority pass guest access? Thankfully my full fare first class ticket I have from ANC->SEA should still get me inside on arrival. My wife is OK with her CSR.

I can confirm, a full first-class fare will get you in at SEA- even when they are closed to PP holders they are open to first class passengers.
