Amazon: Get $25 off $50 by Using 1 Membership Rewards Point, Works on Gift Cards [Targeted]

10/3/17: There’s now a new offer link for this deal. The new link shows immediately whether or not you qualify (‘Click here to qualify’) making it easy to see. Also, new link does not need a promo code; once you save the offer, it comes off automatically at checkout.

The Offer

Direct link to offer (contains our affiliate link)

  • Pay for your Amazon purchase with Amex Membership Rewards points and get $25 off $50 order

Here’s how to get in on this deal:

  1. Make sure you have an Amex card in your Amazon payment option, and ensure that it’s linked to Pay-with-Points.
  2. Click this link and then ‘Click here to qualify’ to save the offer on your Amazon account.
  3. Add $50 or more of eligible products sold and shipped by Amazon.com to your shopping card.
  4. Choose the linked Amex card as your payment method.
  5. Pay for at least a portion of your order with Membership Rewards points. You can use just use one point and pay the rest with the credit card (click ‘choose different amount’ to do this).
  6. $25 of savings will be reflected on the final order checkout page without needing any promo code.

Code Doesn’t Work?

  • Make sure you’re purchasing items sold and shipped by Amazon.com
  • If you just linked your MR account, wait 24 hours and try using the promo code again; seems it takes a few hours for until the promo code works
  • If it’s still not working, contact Amazon chat about the issue. They will likely tell you to complete your purchase and they will refund you the $25.

The Fine Print

  • This is a limited time offer. The promotion will end at 11:59 PT on 12/31/2017, or until 80,000 customers have redeemed this offer, whichever is earlier. The promotion code will expire concurrently. Amazon.com reserves the right to cancel or modify this offer at any time.
  • Offer is available by invitation only, is non-transferable, is not redeemable for cash, and may not be resold.
  • Offer applies only to the purchase of at least $50 of eligible products, where Membership Rewards points are used for at least a portion of the purchase and the promotion code is entered at checkout. Taxes, gift-wrap, and shipping and handling charges do not apply when determining minimum purchase amount.
  • The maximum benefit you may receive from this offer is $25 per eligible Membership Rewards enrolled Card.
  • Offer is not available to American Express Membership Rewards eligible cards whose points have been previously used for purchases at Amazon.com in the past twenty four months.
  • Offer does not apply to the purchase of digital content.
  • Offer only applies to eligible products sold by Amazon.com.
  • Items must be purchased in a single order and shipped at the same speed to a single address.
  • Shipping charges may apply to discounted promotional items.
  • Limit one promotion code per Membership Rewards eligible card.
  • Offer may not be combined with other offers.
  • To redeem the offer, you must be logged into an account which has been active for 90 days or longer.
  • Offer discount will be allocated proportionally among all promotional items in your original order. If any of the items in your original order are subsequently returned, your refund will equal the original price of the product, less the proportional amount of the discount. The total discount on the unreturned amount of your original order will then be less than $25. If any of the products related to your original order are returned, subject to Amazon’s refund policy, you will receive a refund of the card amount first, followed by Membership Rewards points.
  • If you violate any of these terms, the offer will be invalid.
  • Promotional codes (including those placed directly in accounts) may not be redeemed for Amazon Gift Cards.
  • This promotion is available only to Amazon.com customers with an eligible American Express card issued in the United States.

Our Verdict

This offer is targeted and won’t work for everyone. There’s also a stated 80,000 person limit on the deal so better try sooner rather than later when it fills up. I checked on a secondary Amazon account I use for business purchases, and this offer works for me to buy a $50 AirBnB e-gift card for $25 since I never used Pay-with-Points before on that account. Let us know in the comments if it worked for you.

What to Buy

If you have an item to buy on Amazon that’s the easiest. You can also lock in the $25 off $50 deal on a third-party gift card of your choice (just not on an Amazon gift card):

Just got Horizon Zero Dawn this morning so I was going to cancel that order and try to use the video game code, but it seems like they only targeted me with 3 of the categories, which I’m never going to buy anything from (at least probably not on Amazon)… Luxury Beautify, Major Appliances, and Lawn & Garden.

I added this promo and the one from last week (20% up to $50),add $60 worth of stuff to cart and instead of the $25 off it is applying the 20% promo. How do I get it to change which promotion is being applied?

I have 2 AMEX MR cards in my Amazon card profile but I’ve still never been eligible for this offer. Does an AMEX card have to be the default card in order to be eligible for this type of offer?

“Thank you for your interest in this offer. Unfortunately, you are not eligible for this offer.”

Strange since I never had a MR card until a few days ago, and just linked this new card to my Amazon account. Perhaps I have to wait until I get some actual MR points to redeem? (Hoped I could sign up now and actually use the offer when I get some MR points in my account in a few months.)
