Haven’t seen any articles on any card site, but I just received a letter in the mail (4/4/23) that card benefits are changing, effective May 1, 2023. Here are the key changes

Benefits Eliminated:
2% back at drugstores is being eliminated

Benefits Added:
5% back on purchases made through Chase Travel with an eligible Prime membership
2% back on local transit and commuting, including rideshares”

Benefits Unchanged:
5% back at Amazon & Whole Foods with an eligible Prime membership
2% back at restaurants and gas stations
1% back on all other purchases

The letter says at the bottom “No action is needed at this time. Stay tuned for more information.”

I guess we’ll see!

Would this work with an Amazon Prime account in Mexico? (amazon.com.mx)

I’ve been a Prime member for years. I decided to apply and learned that I’m not eligible for Prime card…

“This card is exclusively for eligible Prime members. Right now, you can apply for the Amazon Rewards Visa Signature Card”

I think since removal of its annual fee, the Affinity CU Signature Cash Rewards card now dominates the Amazon Prime card. Larger signup bonus, 5% at Amazon whether you have Prime or not and other bookstores as well, 2% at restaurants, grocery, and gas stations, Hi-5 rotating bonus categories.

I guess this Amazon card makes it a lot easier to get the signup bonus. Is there anything else this card would be good at? I guess the Affinity doesn’t have 2% at pharmacies.

Anyone trying to earn cashback on Amazon purchases should look at DoC’s analysis of the Affinity CU card: https://www.doctorofcredit.com/ia-only-affinity-federal-credit-union-credit-card-200-bonus-5-on-bookstores-including-amazon/

The bonuses vary greatly from account to account. I have access to 2 amazon prime accounts and as of Feb 5, 2020:

Account #1 (2 month old prime account) has $70 gift card bonus.
Account #2 (3 year old prime account) has $0 gift card bonus.

I’m curious to know what is Amazon’s/Chase’s basis for these.
