Our Verdict

The same sign up bonus was available at the end of January this year which ended early May, this should give you a good indication that this same offer will likely be offered again. Given that American Express now limits you to one bonus per card per lifetime it’s also important to look at what targeted offers might be given, users have reported receiving targeted bonuses of $300 so it might be worth waiting in that respect as well. As always we’d recommend checking to see what offers you have from American Express before applying.

This is also a business card, usually you can get around this by having an extremely small business (e.g selling things on eBay/Amazon, being a cleaner for friends/family etc.) but sometimes it’s more difficult. The only other business cards that offer a higher cash sign up bonus are the Ink Plus & Ink Bold from Chase. You also need to keep in mind the $5,000 spending requirement.

I’m going to apply for this card, last time I decided against it because it said that cash back would not be earned on prepaid products (e.g gift cards) and I wanted to take advantage of 5% cash back at office supply stores to hit the minimum spend. I don’t think this policy is actually enforced (at least others who have the card haven’t experienced this) so I should be good to go.

Obviously the Ink cards from Chase are a much better option as they have a higher sign up bonus and earn Chase UR points which are worth a minimum of 1¢ that said a $250 sign up bonus is nothing to sneeze at and it’s nice to be able to spread out my manufactured spending at office supply stores over multiple cards. I might be loosing out of ~$50 by not waiting for a targeted bonus but I’m happy taking that risk. Here are a list of bloggers that have posted about this offer and presumably have affiliate links:

At the moment I haven’t decided who’s link to use. This will add another $250 to money I’ve made in 2014, plus extra from manufactured spending as well.

Anyone ever sign up for this (Simplycash) and personal PRG on the same day? I’m interested in both if I can get away with only one inquiry. I’m not worried about getting approved for both since they are sufficiently different (one a business credit card and other a personal charge card) but not sure if these two will only do one pull.
