Our Veridict
American Express often offers transfer bonuses (the full list of past bonuses can be viewed here). In total they have offered a transfer bonus to Virgin Atlantic 12 times (this is the 13th) and the highest transfer bonus to Virgin Atlantic was 35%. In 2014 they offered two transfer bonuses, one for 30% and the other for 35%. For me the fuel surcharges on Virgin Atlantic have always been the killer, but apparently Virgin Australia has removed these surcharges so this might be a good deal for those looking to go there.
Personally I’m not going to bother with this transfer bonus, I’d rather use my American Express points for something else/wait for a larger transfer bonus. Also keep in mind that the Bank of America credit card is currently offering a sign up bonus of 75,000 Virgin Atlantic miles.
