American Express Platinum Cardholders Can Now Access ‘Escape’ Lounges In The US (BDL, OAK, MSP)

American Express Platinum cardholders can now access Escape lounges in the United States free of charge. This access is given to primary cardholders and they may bring up to two guests at a time.

There are three Escape lounges:

Entry normally costs $45 (or $40 if you prebook online). The lounges have cold & hot food, free WiFi & a bar. This new access is provided to all Platinum cardholders (e.g personal & business and their variations). Always nice to see credit cards add features rather than taking them away.

Damn it was glorious! Where have airport lounges been all my life? Makes flying into an almost civilized experience again!

So far have milked Escape at MSP (twice), Alaska lounge at PDX, and the Hawaiian Plumeria at Honolulu, with plans to squeeze the Centurion Lounge at SFO and Alaska again at PDX

Excellent timing…I can use my new Plat to try out my first airport lounge next week!

As a lounge newbie, is there anything I should know about airport lounges in general? As with many things, I’d like to milk it for all I can.

Avoid the free drinks, free food, and free showers offered at the counter. Get the wifi code and take your laptop out. Gloat on Reddit that you are sitting in your favorite lounge! Wait for response.

Do authorized card holders have entry of their own like at other Priority club lounges?

Does Amex Business Platinum work too?

Yes, tried it this week with the biz; I don’t have the regular plat. I don’t remembered if he swiped it, but I didn’t have to sign for anything like the PP.

For the Minneapolis-St. Paul lounge, unlike the other two, Amex Platinum holders already had access to that Escape lounge because it joined Priority Pass last year. Good to see the others added. And for the MSP location the addition has no effect other than requiring one less thing (PP card) to be checked/scanned at the desk.

Yeah, I don’t really understand this unless the long term goal is to get rid of PP.

I was just in the MSP lounge, and was told that they will be leaving Priority Pass next month….seems like Amex might have bought the exclusive rights?
