The Fine Print

  • Minimum transfer is 250 Membership Rewards points. Redeem for this exclusive offer from 12:00 a.m. MT on May 1, 2017 to 11:59 p.m. MT on May 31, 2017, to receive 25% additional TrueBlue points.
  • TrueBlue points will be awarded at the time of transfer.
  • For each conversion of points into the Frequent Flyer program of a U.S. airline, a fee of $0.0006 per point, with a maximum fee of $99, will be charged to your Card account.

  • The fee may be more or less than the actual amount of the excise tax we pay on any individual conversion.
  • We may offer you the option to redeem points to cover this fee.

Our Verdict

American Express have offered the following transfer bonuses on JetBlue before:

  • August 15th – September 15th, 2014: 25% bonus
  • June 12th, 2012 – June 17th, 2012: 30% bonus

There was also a targeted bonus for 40% that ran from November 1st – November 30th in 2014. There was another targeted promotion for 20% that ran from June 28th – September 30th, 2011.

Citi ThankYou points transfer at a 1:0.8 rate if you have one of their premium cards and they recently offered a 50% transfer bonus so that would have been a better deal. I guess if you have Membership Rewards points and want JetBlue points then this is your best opportunity.

American Express is also offering a 30% transfer bonus to Virgin Atlantic. You can view a full list of all the transfer bonuses American Express have offered here.

Believe the maximum is $99 for the charge, so depending on the amount of points you transferred the effective % will be lowered; also I think the charge is for transfers to domestic airlines only.

I wanna go to Vegas with gf and Jet Blue has flights for only 7,000 points. (The cheapest tickets are $114) that comes out to over 1.6 value per point. I guess im transfering some Amex points. Ty William.

Amex charges $6 for every 10,000 transferred as tax.
