The Offer

This is a targeted offer; it’s not available on all cards. Check your Amex login to see if it showed up on yours. I got it on most, but not all, of my Amex cards.
This offer is not currently available via Twitter, and my guess is that it won’t become available via Twitter.
According to this Slickdeals thread, the offer should work on gift cards and even e-gift cards (e-gcs are sometimes trickier). They also say that J Crew does not carry third party gift cards. They also mention an additional 25% code (for regular purchases, not gc’s): SHOPNOW.
One money-making idea would be to buy $100 J Crew gift cards and resell them for 80%-84% of their value, which could yield a few dollars plus a bunch of free credit card points. I didn’t think this was worth the hassle for me, but then I checked on FrequentMiler’s Laboratory and found reports that the ShopDiscover portal (but no other portals) will pay out for the purchase of gift cards at J Crew. This would add 5% to the profit. You don’t need to actually use a Discover card to get the points (though Discover won’t tell you that).

Our Verdict
Together with the ShopDiscover idea mentioned, this deal could be a decent money-maker. I’ll probably give it a shot, and if the credits and the portal are posting properly then I’ll do a whole bunch more.
