Last Day: Amex Offer: $25 Off $100 at Staples.com, $18 Moneymaker [TARGETED]

Reposting this because today is the last day for this offer. Use it up if you haven’t already.

The Offer

Amex is targeting some people with a great Amex Offer for staples.com.

  • Spend $100 at staples.com with an enrolled card and receive a $25 statement credit

The Fine Print

  • Online at staples.com only
  • Offer valid until June 19, 2016
  • If you order an item during the offer period but it is not provided until after 6/19/2016, it may not count towards determining whether the purchase qualifies for the offer (more details here)
  • Not valid on purchases shipped outside of the US
  • Not valid for e-gift card purchases
  • Not valid for gift cards in bulk purchases (I don’t know what this means)
  • Offer not valid on online orders that are placed in-store through sales associate
  • Excludes Quill, Smilemaker, Staples Business Advantage, Staples 4 Government, Staples Toner Services, Staples Technology Solutions, Staples Promotional Products, Staples Print Solutions (same as Staples Easy Print), Copy and Printing Services, Staples Contract and Commercial, Staples App Center, Staples Industrial, Staples Book Rental, Staples Simplexity, Staples Share fund, and Coastwide Labs
  • Enrollment limited
  • Spend for this offer is cumulative – you can split it up into more than one transaction

Our Verdict

I was lucky to get targeted on all my cards and saved them all via the multi-tab trick, but many others are not seeing this offer – it’s targeted. Check out your own account and see if you were targeted.

While e-gift cards are excluded in the terms, physical gift cards should work to trigger the offer credit. For example, you can buy $100 Visa gift card for $1.06.95 and profit around $18. Some people may choose to buy the higher denomination cards of $200 or $300. Staples.com also sells many other physical gift cards to places like Staples, Lowe’s, Itunes, and more.

Update: The e-gift card exclusion is apparently only for Staples e-gift cards sold through Cashstar. Third-party e-gift cards are working, as per the comments to this post. Staples sells e-gift cards to places like Target, eBay, Lowe’s, Gap and more; these are fulfilled by Giftcardmall and should work to trigger the offer credit.

We’ll send this out via the DoCHotDeals Twitter account since, in the past, offer for Staples tend to disappear quickly. Although I suspect that since this one is more targeted it will remain, we’ll err on the side of caution.

Think it is worth trying this late in the day?

I have 3/3. Have just used them to buy target e-gift cards. Hopefully, they will give me the credit.

Did anyone get the GNC egift card? I was credited the $25 dollars from AMEX but I had trouble using at a physical GNC location. These egift cards from GNC can be used in store correct? It states such on my email but no sales associate could figure out how to manually input card number.

Thought I’d post my experience. I have made four purchases and have now received four credits:

1. $100 VGC (purchased 4/20, received card, received $25 credit 4/24)
2. $100 physical eBay GC (purchased 4/30, received card 5/5, received $25 credit 5/4)
3. $100 eBay e-GC (purchased 5/2, received via email 5/3, received $25 credit 5/5)
4. $100 Whole Foods e-GC (purchased 5/2, received via email 5/3, received $25 credit 5/5)

I was a little intimidated by others’ experiences with e-GCs, but I decided to try them anyway. Bought the eBay one on one of my cards and the Whole Foods one on one of my wife’s cards. So even though they were the same day, they were purchased from completely separate accounts.

Good luck all!

Been ordering a bunch of GCs and having some issues. Got a call from Staples from a Canadian number saying that they have to manually review everything since some things not matching up (I am doing it from a few different accounts for my family members who live with me). Anyone else have this problem too?

I pushed through 11 so far (combination of $100 target and ebay e-gift cards), no more than 2 per day, and no cancellations or issues. $25 is crediting as expected, I think 4 or 5 at least have already credited, no issues.

so I made 4 $100 Target e-gift card purchases on 4 separate amex cards on 4/21 and then kind of forgot about it till today so I checked the status of the orders only to find out they were all cancelled. Anyone have a similar experience?

Data Point:

4/19 – Ordered 1, $100 Ebay E-Gift Card at Staples.com.
4/19 – Received the AMEX Sync confirmation email.
4/20 – GiftCardMall.com sends Ebay E-Giftcard to my email.
4/21 – $100 Staples charge is posted to my AMEX account.
4/22 – Finally discover the E-Giftcard in my SPAM folder! 🙂
4/22 – $25 Staples credit posts to my AMEX account.

I have 3 more of these offers to use. Hopefully Staples doesn’t close the offer to E-Gift cards or to multiple offers per account as a couple reports have stated. More data points are needed.
