Amex Offers: $20 Off $20 at Sams Club! [Membership Not Required]

[See All You Need to Know About the Sam’s Club Amex Offer for all the details on this offer and how to maximize.]

The Offer

Direct Link

  • Spend $20 at Samsclub.com with your registered Amex card and receive a $20 statement credit from Amex.

This offer seems to be showing up in all Amex logins. If you don’t think you see it, check again. It took me a few checks until I found it on some of the cards, but it was always there.

What’s awesome (and very uncommon) about this deal is that it’s also available via Twitter! This means that you can easily get it on all your cards by using hashtag #AmexSamsclub, including your Bluebird/Serve cards and your third-party Amex cards.

It also means that it’s likely to sell out quickly. As of 5/1/15 at 11:35 AM EST this was still working on Twitter.

The Fine Print

I haven’t had time to check yet, too busy making sure I have the offer on all my cards 🙂 I’ll update this soon.

  • Valid online at samsclub.com only.
  • Valid 5/1/15 – 9/30/15.

Non-Members

Non-members pay a 10% surcharge for orders at samsclub.com. Gift card purchases can be ordered with the same 10% surcharge.

A better idea may be to buy Sams membership. There’s currently a deal on Groupon to buy membership for $45 and it includes a $20 Sams gift card in the deal. The gift card can be resold for around $18 if you don’t want to use it, which makes the total cost of membership at $27. [You can also use Sams gift card to buy gas at Sams and probably to buy third-party gift cards online.] There are some other goodies that come along with this Groupon deal as well.

Our Verdict

This sounds like free money. We’ll have to see how this can and can’t be used. They do sell gift cards on Samsclub.com.

Gift cards at Sams link

They sell Vanilla Visa gift cards and lots of other merchant gift cards. Also note that many gift cards at Sams are discounted to begin with which makes this an even better deal. There’s also a possibility that you’ll get portal cashback when buying third party gift cards online.

There are now many reports on Slickdeals that the pending charge is coming up as “Sams Club Photo” for all purchases and Photo is excluded in the Terms. Additionally, no one has yet to get the confirmation email, even those ordering non-gift card purchases.

Either the ‘photo’ coding will switch over when it finally posts or they’re having problems with how all their purchases are being coded. (Or…you can go the conspiracy theory route.)

In the Terms, there no limit on gift card purchases appears so it would seem that gift cards should work. With Amex Offers from Walmart, for example, gift card purchases have worked to trigger the Offer credit.

For now, I’d recommend syncing all your cards immediately and worrying later about the best way to maximize.

My pending sams club purchase($20 gift card) is no longer showing on my statement at all. I haven’t received the gift card yet either.

I purchased a gift card online yesterday and was charged extra 10%. I checked my pending transactions and it stated sams club online photo. When I checked today under my pending transactions it now states Sam’s club.com

Do you have a Sam’s Club account? If so, that’s why you weren’t charged a 10% fee. If not, what gift card did you buy? pointie said that he was assessed a 10% fee.

Just bought a $20 Sam’s Club Gift Card, and received a text that it was process as Sam’s Club Photo, which is excluded from this offer…Looks like no go on the gift cards…
