Our Verdict

I found this on my OBC, but not my other cards. Certainly worth saving in case you have a rental in the next couple of months.

There are lots of terms there in the fine print, but the bottom line as I understand it is that if your charge goes through using the standard Enterprise/National/Alamo rental charge at the desk, it would trigger the credit. Just note that you need $200 in one charge, not split up. And third-party reservations with services like Priceline obviously won’t work.

Oh and while I’m at it – the double/triple browser trick is not working for me anymore. An offer (Enterprize) I see on one card in one browser disappears when I open another browser. To add insult to injury, I’m getting payback from Amex on one Carrabbas purchase for a registered card, but not on another registered card. Do you suppose the multiple browser trick is done (for me?) at Amex?

No it still works.

You might be doing it wrong from your description. You have to have each tab/browser open and expended to “show all” before you add the item to the first card.

Thanks for the reply John – but no that’s not it. I’ve been doing multiple cards for a few years now, so know how to do it. In Firefox it showed the Enterprise offer on a few cards so I left one card open that showed the offer. I then opened Safari and looked at the cards I didn’t leave open – but that had the offer on Firefox and in this browser – the offer did not show up for those same cards. To test it I went back to Firefox – picked a new card and now the offer showed up on the same card in Safari, but was gone off the other. I know that was a confusing description – but what use to work for me – did not on the Enterprise offer. Haven’t tried anything else yet. Again – thanks for the suggestion.

I don’t have it on my 3 cards, but maybe that is a good thing. Amex keeps having good hotel offers and has been keeping me from getting my CSR travel credits for the year.

I wonder how much they will check on whether you use an OTA, if it’s not a prepaid rate: in that case, you just get charged at the rental counter, the same as if you rented directly. Also, doesn’t amex charge extra to use their damage waiver, compare to say, using a CS(R)? I feel like trying to use that would end up costing me more than using autoslash and the CS(R)…

I guess its also good at locations, so i think you could get points by booking though someone, like SW, and then pay for it at the location to get the bonus.

Showed up on my ED and green charge card
