Our Verdict

United & American Airlines are both offering 30x miles per $1 spent. If you spent exactly $50 you’d be paying $35 and earning 1,500 miles (2.33¢ per mile + $50 in 1800 flowers stuff). Becomes more attractive for American Airlines when you’re doing their partner bonus currently on offer for up to 10,000 miles.

I just saw GC’s are back in stock. Please note, airline miles are “promotion codes” and are NOT eligible for GC’s.

I’ve noticed that 1800flowers has raised some of their flower prices in the past few days, especially arrangements that include roses. They generally do this before a big holiday. So, if you actually want some flowers and it doesn’t have to be there by Mother’s Day, consider ordering after Mother’s Day.

Also, when I tried to send flowers to my mother-in-law, delivery was sold out in her area for Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. I ended up paying $3.99 extra for next-day delivery, to have the flowers delivered Thursday.

I would steer clear of 1800flowers gift cards. They generally can’t be used with any other offers, including airline miles.

Two step process:
1) Buy the gift cards with ebates stacked with amex offers.
2) Spend the gift cards and use the airline promo code.
most recent DP success was in March
Works for me as long as you buy flowers from the 1800 website.
I’ve had zero luck getting airline miles buying from their sister sites even when I start at the 1800 site.
I think they’re out of stock on gift cards during the mothers day rush on purpose to avoid paying the stackers.

@Tom, thank you for the advice!

@goodguys21, there is the ebates offer mentioned above, Also, remember that some airline miles can be used for gift cards. The 1750 Southwest miles should translate into a $17.50 Gift Card for Amazon or various other places. The 30 miles per dollar Amtrak Guest Rewards can be used to buy Gift Cards, too.

Tried to buy gift cards yesterday and none were available. Is there a work around?

You can use the AmEx offer with physical gift cards and combine it with the 22% back eBates is currently offered (this has worked for me a number of times). However, they don’t currently have any gift cards in stock, and I’m very frustrated because I don’t have any need for the actual merchandise and would rather get the cash back from resale of the gift cards. ($50 – $15 Amex Offer – $11 from eBates – $30 resale on Cardpool = $6 profit per enrolled card, or $8.50 if you get the Open benefits).

You cannot combine gift card purchase with any promo codes, so you can’t get miles for purchasing gift cards.

There is a current 1750 RR points offer for them. Just got an email for it. Code is SW36 valid May 5th-15th, limit 5.

Thanks, Deb. Do you (or anyone else) know what the minimum purchase is to use this code? Maybe $29.99 or $34.99, or something else? I can’t find anything about this new code on Southwest’s website, and haven’t gotten an email about it.

So will the 1.99 Fanny May trigger the bonus AA on 4 different vendors if I go through 1800 flowers first?

If so, while 30-50 miles/$ is nice, I may take the smaller spending to just get the 10k 4 vendor bonus.

As Ryan says, this stacks with Amex Open Savings. I just did the Amex offer, and was pleasantly surprised to see an additional $2.50 rebate, plus the $15 Sync offer, on my $50-and-change order.

There are some other rewards programs that pay at good rates for 1800flowers. Amtrak Guest Rewards is also offering 30 miles per $1 until 5/20/2017, code AMT56. Amtrak Guest Rewards is a revenue-based rewards program and last I checked, a point was worth 2.8 cents towards Amtrak travel. So, this is a good deal if you use Amtrak. In fact, if you already have 1800flowers’ “Passport” free shipping service, you can get slightly more in Amtrak Guest Rewards than what you spend on the flowers.

Southwest is currently offering 1000 Rapid Rewards miles for a $29.99 purchase, code RR22. So, if you do two $29.99 purchases, it will cost you $44.98 and you’ll get 2000 Rapid Rewards miles in addition to whatever you ordered from 1800flowers. Rapid Rewards has sometimes had higher offers in the past. About a month ago, they were offering 1750 Rapid Rewards miles for a $34.99 purchase from 1800flowers.

Some caveats, though. Not all products on 1800flowers can be combined with coupon codes, and you’ll need a coupon code to get your airline or railroad miles. Also, 1800flowers is not always great at giving rewards like they should. Whenever I buy from them, I make absolutely certain I’ve entered my code, my rewards programs number, and the correct credit card number. Then I screen capture the order before I submit is, and also screen capture the order confirmation.

Also, a lot of the gifts on 1800flowers are pretty mhe. I haven’t tried many of its partner brands, but they tend to be expensive. The best deal is usually same-day gifts and flowers, which are delivered by a local florist. These currently start at around $34.99. 1800flowers doesn’t have anything that costs exactly $50. Instead, they have flowers at $49.99 and $54.99. To try to get $50, while not going over by much, you can order something for $39.99 or $44.99 and add a balloon or two. Or, order something from Fannie May or Cheryl’s Cookies, which are affiliated brands. (Make sure to click through to 1800flowers first, though.) Fannie May has items starting at $1.95.

Yeah, I do a LOT of the 1800flowers offers. Call it a Frequent Flower program!

Stack this with Amex open savings benefit also.

Came here to mention this as well. Rarely do I see this mentioned in posts on blogs about maximizing 1800Flowers deals. Five percent is five percent. Can be big savings if you’re ordering in the hundreds of dollars.

JetBlue has 1750 true blue miles for any 1800flowera purchase of $34.99 before taxes and fees. Better %, even assuming you get your cart to $50.00 to trigger AmEx offer, though depends on how one values JetBlue miles as compared to AA and UA.

Has anybody seen gift cards from 1800 Flowers? The last week I’ve checked and they always say they are out.
