#AmexExxonMobil Spend $25 At The Pump, Receive $5 Statement Credit

The Offer

Direct link to offer

  • Spend $25 or more in a single purchase at the pump at any Exxon or Mobil and receive a $5 statement credit when you use an American Express card that is enrolled in this offer

exxon mobil

The Fine Print

  • Not valid for online or in-store purchases or any purchases not made at the pump
  • Excludes convenience store purchases, car washes, aviation fuel, car repair, garage service and gift card purchases. Valid at any participating location in the US. Enrollment limited
  • Valid until September 30th, 2015 or until the offer is filled

Our Verdict

This works out to be a 20% discount on gas purchases at Exxon/Mobil (assuming you spend $25 exactly). I imagine most readers aren’t really currently paying for gas because of all the fuel point offers that have been available, but if you do purchase gas and it’s not 20% more expensive at Exxon/Mobil then this is a good opportunity for you to get some discounted gas.

Unfortunately it’s not possible to purchase gift cards (if the fine print is enforced, which I think it will be as the pump is usually coded differently than in store), otherwise it would be an easy flip opportunity.

Am I the only one not getting any response when tweeting this from my BBVA NBA card? I know it works as last week I got both Staples and Office Depot notifications that max # of cards were already enrolled. But this one doesn’t reply at all. Got it on all my other 5 cards though…

I think that some cards may be hardwired not to take certain offers.

My Everyday cards did not show the Delivery.com offer — although all the rest of my AMEX products did — and I tried tweeting them for the offer and nothing would work.

It is possible that AMEX had decided that certain of their card products would not count for a specific promotion and thus the Sync/Tweet does not “take.”

HTH.

William – I had a million dollar question for you. By answering this question, you will do favor to me and a lot of your readers as I’ve seen many people asking this question. Since there are so many Amex/Twitter offers, sometimes we connect cards with Twitter and forget which Twitter account was a specific card connected to. As a result, for e.g., when connecting one of my 4 Amex cards with Twitter for this Exxon deal, it gives me this error:

“Your eligible cards are already connected to other twitter accounts”

Now I’m not able to find which Twitter account was it. Do you know of any way to know which Twitter account is a particular Amex card connected to?

So would you tell them which of my 10 Twitter accounts is my Amex card connected to?

Try this:
https://sync.americanexpress.com/twitter/Index

when you sign in with your twitter info, it should tell you what amex is connected to that twitter account. I know it’s kind of the opposite of what you asked, but it should help. You’ll get a message like this:

Good news!
@yourhandle, your Card ending in XXXXX is already connected. You are all set to get offers and more with your connected Card by tweeting special #hashtags.

I feel your pain as I am in the same boat. I even ordered a replacement card from Amex with a new number! When trying to link the new card to a twitter account it says “Your card ending in ***** is connected to another twitter account”.

There should be a way to check. I am getting frustrated .

Contd: My problem is that I do not remember the twitter account, if I did that would solve all my problems.

I had to call in and have the AMEX CSR go talk to some AMEX techie to disconnect the twitter account. I got the go around that I had to go to that one unsync your card page… does not help if you cannot access your twitter account. I was on hold for quite a while but I was able to link it up with another twitter after they did so.

CBG — I use the Sync assist app to connect me to offers I ordinarily am not selected for and then unsyc as soon as I am finished to go on to syncing another AMEX card.

A way to definitely determine whether the “Sync” has occurred is to later go into your AMEX account and see what offers are actually now selected for each card that you have.

I know for certain that I was only targeted for this Exxon offer on my Everyday cards, not my SPG or HHonors AMEX.

I use only 1 Twitter handle so I was not sure that Syncing and then Unsyncing would do the trick, but today I went into each account and the Exxon offers is happily residing in all for of these now.

I do not know if the Syncing of the offer is instantaneous or not, but it certainly is posted to your account within 1 day of signing up!
