- Simplifying and automating debit card transactions by Freequent Flyer. Some good ideas for automating and meeting debit card transactions. For some more ideas you can also read this post.
- IHG signup bonus no longer counting towards status by Frequent Miler. I speculated that this would be the case, but it’s nice to have confirmation (actually it would’ve been much nicer if I was wrong, but it’s good information to have regardless). Don’t bother reading the idiotic comments.
- This Mistake Cost One Hotel Guest 90,000 Points (and Possibly More) by Travel Codex. Disappointing story, but I agree with Scott’s analysis. Always read the fine print and somebody that signs up at the hotel hasn’t been incentivized to stay there by the loyalty program so I can see why they’d award less points. Let’s hope IHG steps up in this instance and awards the full 90,000 points.
- Etihad Faces a Lawsuit in Australia for Sitting a Passenger Next to an Obese Person by Miles to Memories. If you don’t fit in your seat, you should have to pay for additional seats or premium cabins unless there is a medical reason – in which case the airline should be forced to accommodate you. I’ve had lots of flights where the person (or people) next to me have overflowed into my seat, it’s pretty uncomfortable and I think I am entitled to the full seat that I purchased. I don’t think this lawsuit will be successful and I understand it’s a difficult situation for airlines (and truth be told it’s not something that really bothers me, being quiet small has it’s advantages).
- Chase Ink Bold Changes: Ability to Pay Over Time and Stated Credit Access Line (Similar to Chase Ink Plus) by Travel With Grant. I don’t know why they don’t just do a forced product change to the Ink Plus personally.
- What’s up with #thechart ? by Saverocity. I linked to this chart yesterday (or maybe it was the day before) I did note that I thought the 12% annual return was unrealistic, but it turns out that the whole chart is filled with bad math. In any case, start saving young if you want to retire rich.

I hope they won’t do the forced product change & keep the MasterCard. Their Easy Savings can be handy time to time.
