Card Benefits

This card also comes with a number of benefits. They are as follows:

  • Free checked bag for primary card holder and up to three companions. The three companions must be on the same reservation as the primary cardholder and everybody receives their first checked bag for free. All of the tickets must be purchased with the JetBlue Plus MasterCard and the primary card-member must enter their TrueBlue account number at the time of booking as well. Account must be open seven days prior to air travel.
  • Qualify for Mosaic status when you spend $50,000 more within a calendar year. Allow 4-6 weeks after you meet the spending requirements for your account to reflect Mosaic status. It will apply for the remainder of that calendar year and then the following calendar year. Benefits of Mosaic status can be viewed below.
  • 50% Savings on Inflight Purchases. Eligible purchases include: cocktails, beer, wine, meals, and JetBlue movies (not Fly-Fi®) on JetBlue-operated flights. Will appear as a statement credit 4-6 weeks after the transaction is posted to your account.
  • 10% of your points back when you redeem. You’ll receive 10% of your points back when you redeem, you’ll need to wait 4-6 weeks your these points to post to your account. There is no maximum amount of points you can receive from this bonus.
  • $100 statement credit after purchasing a Getaway Package. Purchase must be at $100 or more (less returns & credits). Limit of one per calendar year. Will appear as a statement credit 6-8 weeks after the qualifying transaction posts to your account.

Mosaic Status

As mentioned above, if you spend $50,000 or more within a calendar year you’ll receive Mosaic status for the rest of that year and then for the following calendar year. Mosaic Status gives you the following benefits:

  • JetBlue change and cancellation fees will be waived for Mosaic members and others on their itinerary
  • You and others on your itinerary can check both the first and second bag for free – no matter which fare option you chose! (card already gives you first checked bag free)
  • 15,000 bonus points upon qualifying for Mosaic
  • Cut down on the time it takes to get to your gate with complimentary access to an expedited security line
  • Early boarding
  • Earn an additional 3 TrueBlue points per dollar on your JetBlue flight, for at least 9 points per dollar if you book on jetblue.com
  • Access to a dedicated Customer Service Line available 24/7
  • Enjoy complimentary alcoholic beverages onboard

Major advantages are probably the 15,000 bonus points, extra 3x per dollar spent and the free alcoholic beverages.

Our Verdict

If you have paid flights with JetBlue, then this card definitely makes sense. The 6x points on JetBlue is worth 5.82¢-11.32¢ per dollar spent, the annual fee of $99 is somewhat subsidized by the 5,000 annual anniversary points (and the 30,000 points in the first year). The 50% savings and 10% back on redemption’s are also great features for somebody using JetBlue regularly.

If you’re just chasing sign up bonuses, the value is less clear cut. You’ll get the 30,000 points that are worth $291 – $567 (less the annual fee of $99) for JetBlue flights. I think with a sign up bonus of 50,000 points this would be a very easy card to apply for, but at 30,000 points the choice is a bit more personalized and will likely depend on what the availability of JetBlue flights in your region is.

A question: Somewhere I think you said there is a 3500 point minimum for redemption, but I have seen flights priced at 2600 points. Is there actually a minimum?

The card you’re showing is the standard JetBlue card. The Plus card is all blue.

Select one or two programs and just build up worth those. If you chase every new offer or deal you will be spread wide and thin

i would wait… with everything that’s happening this may go up for 50k which would make this card interesting. with 30k it’s just too average of an offer.
