I just found a competitive new account at Evergreen Money. It’s a checking account that invests in Treasuries, so it’s not FDIC insured. But it’s free of state taxes. Currently paying 5.39% and there is a $250 bonus for depositing $10,000, which is the minimum opening amount. You get an ATM card and it has free incoming wire transfers, but does not have bill payment (so maybe this would be better placed in the savings account thread). I opened an account; I’m not moving money in immediately.

I need to open a new checking and savings account with them. Many years ago, they screwed me out of $25 by charging for overdraft line of credit annual fee on an account I had opened with my son and which the banker suggested (I assume there was some contest going on for getting clients to sign up for it).
