Best Posts Last Week: Two 5% Everywhere Cards, $500 Sign Up Bonus, Visa Infinite & Much More

First lets have a look at the limited credit card news this week. Capital One added a $500/50,000 mile bonus on their Spark Business cards and I made a case for that offer despite the fact that Capital One pulls all three credit bureaus. There is also a 50,000 mile bonus on the Lufthansa card, who knows how long that’ll last so jump on it if it interests you. Discover is also letting some cardholders pick a store to earn 5% cash back in on up to $1,000 in purchases.

There are currently two credit cards that have the potential to earn up to 5% everywhere, of course there are some restrictions. The New BP Visa card offers up to 5% everywhere for the first 90 days, but rewards must be redeemed for gas at BP stations and they might not offer the best price. You also need to use up the rewards within a year, so if you don’t spend much on gas there is a pretty big hard cap on this offer. The other card is the BBVA NBA compass card that earns 5% everywhere during all star weekend and the two weeks NBA finals. We’ve talked about this card before, but now it comes with no annual fee forever (and still the $100 sign up bonus), which is particularly useful as it’s an American Express card and we all know how valuable they are for AmEx offers.

Speaking of AmEx offers, there have been a number of good offers that were released on Monday last week. The best of which is probably the home depot $15 off $75 deal, which is triggered by third party gift cards (and there are a lot of useful ones). You can also get $10 off $75 at Whole Foods. There is a Staples Easy Rebate deal of $20 Visa giftcard when you purchase $300+ in Visa giftcards and it’s also possible to get 1,500 spirit miles for free. Personally I think the best deal of the week goes to Topcashback + British Airways offering up to $34 cash back on hotel bookings.

It was a pretty big week for bank bonuses, if you’re doing the Santander $20 per month deal then it’s important to note that they are cracking down on what is considered a direct deposit – there are still many work around’s though so this bonus is still great. PNC brought back their $400 bonus, Capital One 360 & Bank of America both now have $500 bonuses with some restrictions and Oceans First [NJ only] made some updates to their $300 bonus.

As always, if you see a deal or piece of news that you think I should cover/would find interesting then please let me know. You can always contact me via e-mail at [email protected].
