Booking.com: Get $40 Off $80+ (Limit Of One Per Person)

The Offer

Direct link to offer (scroll down to news and offers and then click ‘$40 back on your stay with Booking.com’ (this direct link seems to work as well)

  • American Airlines is offering $40 back when you spend $80 or more on Booking.com. This works for existing users as well.
  • If you’re a new user you can get $25 off by using a referral link (my link here) and then on your second stay you can use the American Airlines promotion above.

The Fine Print

  • Limit of three money back offers per year
  • Can refer a maximum of 10 people per year
  • Credit is good for one year
  • One time use only
  • New Mexico and Hawaii are excluded

Our Verdict

Money should get refunded to the credit card used, when you add a credit card make sure you tick the ‘eligible for rewards’ checkbox otherwise it won’t work. Great discount of 50% if you can find something around the $80 mark. Just keep in mind if booking a chain hotel you won’t earn points or elite night/stay credits and your status likely won’t be recognized either.

If the green box above doesn’t show up then make sure you turn off addblocking first.

    What happens if you didn’t get the “eligible for rewards” check box and you booked anyway? It shows the $40 back after my confirmed stay but I have no idea how they’ll actually follow through with it.

    No options to tick the “eligible for rewards”.

    After the booking, the confirmation page will show a message, “Don’t forget, you’ll get $40 after you complete your stay!”

        the straing thing is that there is no terms and conditions. Do we need to login AA.com? But it seems that it still works even if we do not login.

        Then the most important thing is how they will issue the rewards to us. Probabely that would be a hotel reward worthy of $40 USD. Who knows? I think I will keep the hotel receipts to demonstrate I really stayed in that hotel.

          I’m also most concerned with the follow-through on the offer. Because other than the booking confirmation page, there is no other indication of the offer. If you even try to save that page the offer disappears, so I had to screenshot it.

          I just saw the T&C for the Incentive Program which you join just by clicking the link. Click the AA link and you’ll see the green banner on the bottom of the booking.com page and the program’s T&C are there.

          Within the T&C it says “To obtain the reward as a credit to their credit card, the Participant has, within a reasonable time after the stay, either created a user account and saved a valid credit
          card in the account settings or provided a valid credit card on the provided digital form. American Express is not currently an accepted credit card.” I saved the CC I booked my reservation with on the Booking platform and will use the same CC when I pay at the hotel. I expect the $40 credit to then show on my credit card.

            In my case, actually I have to pay the hotel when I check in. There are no options to pay it immediately

          Sorry for the confusion- I too will pay the hotel at the time of stay. I should have said I’m using the same credit card to hold the reservation now that I will to pay for it later and that I’ve stored on the site.

      Is this right after you book, or your confirmation as it should read after that? I don’t have anything on my actual confirmation page I can access now on my account, can’t remember what was shown right after booking.

        The green list of checks that showed above the confirmation had one confirming the $40 off, it didn’t show when I printed the page so I took a screenshot. I don’t see confirmation anywhere else.

    Apparently you’re supposed to receive an email confirming the $40 credit immediately after booking. I never received the email. I guess I got suckered into a booking that I will likely never see the discount on.

      You should have gotten a regular booking confirmation email.
      1.Click “Make changes to your booking”
      2.Click “View confirmation” at the top
      3.It should say “Get $40 back after your stay has been verified!” with a green check mark next to it

      I didn’t receive the email but got the green check Skaner describes on my online confirmation. Is your room refundable? If so cancel if you think you’re getting suckered.

      An email came through this morning about it. Within it said “Getting your US$40 reward from Booking.com … After your stay, you’ll get an email about your US$40 reward from Booking.com. The reward is paid to your preferred credit card and sent shortly after that.”

    Confused: How is American Airlines involved in this? It doesn’t mention American Airlines anywhere on the booking.com site. Do you need to have an AA account, use an AA credit card … anything? I mean if it’s offered BY American Airlines how do they benefit if not from the above? Is it just their connection to Booking.com and their ability to then push their airline on the site?     So how many $40 back offers can each person redeem? 1 or 3? In the fine print you mentioned above, it says “limit of three money back offers per year”. But in the comment from Blue: “Blue says:
    May 30, 2017 at 7:27 pm Ugh, I’ve got three of these credit bookings and only one with a check”.
