The Offer
Direct link to offer (scroll down to news and offers and then click ‘$40 back on your stay with Booking.com’ (this direct link seems to work as well)
- American Airlines is offering $40 back when you spend $80 or more on Booking.com. This works for existing users as well.
- If you’re a new user you can get $25 off by using a referral link (my link here) and then on your second stay you can use the American Airlines promotion above.
The Fine Print
- Limit of three money back offers per year
- Can refer a maximum of 10 people per year
- Credit is good for one year
- One time use only
- New Mexico and Hawaii are excluded
Our Verdict
Money should get refunded to the credit card used, when you add a credit card make sure you tick the ‘eligible for rewards’ checkbox otherwise it won’t work. Great discount of 50% if you can find something around the $80 mark. Just keep in mind if booking a chain hotel you won’t earn points or elite night/stay credits and your status likely won’t be recognized either.
If the green box above doesn’t show up then make sure you turn off addblocking first.

Has anyone actually received their $40 credit for this deal? Curious if it will work all the way through. Seems very iffy…but i hope i am wrong 🙂
There are some people on Flyertalk who confirmed receiving the money back to their card.
Does anyone know if you can book on different accounts but with the same credit card?
Good question, i would also like to know this as me and my fiance were planning to do this….
Is this deal no longer available? I don’t see the $40 offf on the AA site anymore.

Thanks! I am actually looking to book a night in Maui, Hawaii – just realized the fine print above and looked into the T&C and it says “People from the US states of New Mexico and Hawaii” are excluded – I am not a resident of either state, would I still be able to use this promotion or does this not apply to hotel bookings in Hawaii?
Eligibility
Participants must be 18 years of age and older. People from the US states of New Mexico and Hawaii, as well as employees of The Priceline Group Inc. and its affiliates, are excluded from participation.
Bookings in Hawaii should be fine, just can’t be a resident there.
So how many $40 back offers can each person redeem? 1 or 3? In the fine print you mentioned above, it says “limit of three money back offers per year”. But in the comment from Blue: “Blue says:
May 30, 2017 at 7:27 pm Ugh, I’ve got three of these credit bookings and only one with a check”.
You can do this offer once and a total of three different offers per year. At least that’s my understanding.
I want to make 3 bookings with this deal with the same account, same card, etc. Can anyone confirm recently that they got the $40 back and that it works 3x per account? Thank you very much. This is our summer vacation.
No, you can use this deal once and do a total of three booking.com cash back deals per year. Enjoy your vacation!
Confused: How is American Airlines involved in this? It doesn’t mention American Airlines anywhere on the booking.com site. Do you need to have an AA account, use an AA credit card … anything? I mean if it’s offered BY American Airlines how do they benefit if not from the above? Is it just their connection to Booking.com and their ability to then push their airline on the site? Thanks, Alley
It was just advertised on the AA site. I think that’s all of their involvement.
I guess this is no longer valid?
Was going to use it today, if anybody has figured it out, let me know.
It is still active. You can use the following link:

It is still active. I just booked a room today.
I dont see the offer- is this dead already?
I also received an email today, June 1, confirming that I will receive $40 back to my credit card after my booking (in my case next April!). Awesome! thanks or the tip!!
Is the $80 total pretax and fees? Or can I book a $65 room that comes to $80??
Anyone know?
I assume it’s pretax and fees.
