Our Verdict
You should be able to transfer this cash back into miles with Hawaiian airlines (40 miles per $1 or 2.5¢ per point) or Virgin American (30 miles per $1 or  3.33¢ per point). I think the transfer partners suck though and it’s way to expensive to convert cash to miles. I’ve never used Mogl before but they have raised $32.7 million in funds so I guess offering promotions like this is one way of acquiring users and burning through your funding.
Mogl is basically a loyalty application, you add your credit cards/debit cards to the application and then restaurants will offer a discount. If you use one of your linked cards to purchase, you’ll automatically get cash back added to your Mogl account. Most places seem to offer cash back of around 10%. They’ll also donate a meal to a local food bank every time you eat at a Mogl restaurant.
I think it’s a cool app and idea and it’s great to see them offering promotions like this. That being said I find most of the restaurants listed in these types of apps to be frankly quite disappointing. Successful restaurants generally don’t want to give out 10%+ discounts (not even including whatever fees Mogl charges) as it eats into their profit. This means you either end up with sub-par restaurants or restaurants adding some extra padding in their prices.
I’ll probably try to take advantage of this promotion since I live in the target area, although none of the options are jumping out at me at the moment.
