Where Can I Buy A Vanilla Reload Card From?

Question:

I’m struggling to meet the minimum spending requirement for the Chase Sapphire Preferred Card ($3,000 in 3 months). I heard I can use my credit card to purchase a Vanilla Reload and then use that to load a Bluebird account, which I can then use as a regular checking account. Is this true? If it is, where can I get these Vanilla Reload cards from? – Jason, New Hampshire

Answer:

Thanks for the question, Jason. Yes it is possible to load a Bluebird account with Vanilla Reloads. You’re going to want to find Vanilla Reload that says “Vanilla Reload Network” on the front. I’ve included a picture at the end of this post. They are available from the following stores:

  • CVS – they are often sold out and some CVS’ do not allow credit card purchases. If it looks like they are sold out, ask behind the counter to make sure. You can also get them to give you a call when they get more in. Use the store locator to find your closest CVS.

Which Stores Don’t Allow A Credit Card Purchase For Vanilla Reloads?

A number of stores stock these reloads, but don’t allow you to pay by credit card – which makes them useless for your purpose.

  • 7/11 – they used to allow VR purchases to be made with credit card but no longer do.

Readers, if you know of other stores selling these reload cards – please let us know in the comments. If a CVS has stock, also let us know!
