The Offer
- The National Park’s Service has a number of entrance fee-free dates, allowing you to access national parks for free. The dates are as follows for 2017:
- January 21:Â Birthday of Martin Luther King, Jr.
- April 20: First day of National Park Week
- August 25:Â National Park Service Birthday
- September 28:Â National Public Lands Day
- November 11:Â Veterans Day
The Fine Print
- In total there are more than 400 parks available, only 120 national parks normally charge a fee.
- Fee waiver includes entrance fees, commercial tour fees, and transportation entrance fees
- Excludes reservation, camping, tours, concession and fees collected by third parties
Our Verdict
Remember that fourth graders can access the parks for free at anytime & Canada has made all of it’s national parks free to celebrate their 150th anniversary. Obviously expect the parks to be more busy during these free periods and whether you’d prefer to pay and have smaller crowds or not. Either way, you should explore our great national parks. Also remember that Bank of America has the Museums On Us program offering free museums for cardholders.
Also just a reminder that if you are in the U.S. military, you can get a free annual pass every year.
If you lose a leg, you can go for free the rest of your life. ;P
