The Fine Print

  • These offers are only available for new customers and cannot be transferred.

  • If you open an account through a business, it may be subject to closure/conversion. Bonus is only available for one 360 Checking account and one 360 Money Market account, and multiple new accounts will not qualify.
  • You must have a valid Social Security number to open a 360 Money Market or 360 Checking account.
  • Here’s how to qualify for the cash bonuses:
  • $200 360 Money Market account bonus:
  • Open your first Capital One 360 Money Market account online and deposit at least $10,000 no later than July 31, 2017, 11:59 p.m. ET.

  • $200 360 Checking account bonus:
  •  Open your first Capital One 360 Checking account online no later than July 31, 2017, 11:59 p.m. ET.
  • Receive two direct deposits of $250 or more each within 60 days of your acceptance of account terms and conditions. Direct deposits must be an electronic deposit of one of the following: your paycheck from your employer, Social Security/pension or other government benefits. Direct deposit is subject to employer or other payor options.
  •  Capital One will deposit the $200 cash bonus into your checking account approximately 6-8 weeks after you accept the account terms and conditions and complete the above conditions. Once the bonus is deposited, the funds will be available immediately.
  • All bank account bonuses are treated as income/interest and as such you have to pay taxes on them

Avoiding Fees

Both accounts have no monthly fees to worry about. There is also no early account termination fees.

Our Verdict

We already knew that there was a $200 savings bonus, but this new bonus has a different expiration date. There is also a targeted offer for $400 on the checking account, but lots of reports for that working for everybody (but that might no longer be the case, YMMV). I’d say that this $200 checking bonus would be the safer option, but for a lot of people the risk is worth it for an extra $200. Personally I’d go for the $400 bonus & $200 savings bonus, but I’ll leave that decision up to you. I won’t be adding this to our best bonus page.

  1. Rena says:

    Availability: Nationwide, but targeted

So the $200 checking bonus is targeted as well as the $400 bonus?

    • Michael says:

Don’t see that this promo is targeted and the language is different from other Capital One promotions, especially about never having had any type of savings products with Capital One.

Wonder what “These offers are only available for new customers” really means?

Will be interesting to see the data points come in on this one.

      • Harry says:

I’m curious also. I’ve never had a 360 Money Market with them though have had what they called a High Yield Money Market and Interest Plus Online Savings with them years ago and that prevents me from getting any of their other savings bonuses (I never got a previous bonus).

Hopefully the new wording allows for doing both of these bonuses this time around.

    • Dan says:

I got the $200 savings and $400 checking bonus and then was targeted (by mail and app) for a $200 checking one.. I sent an email to DoC about it with all the info but they ignored it. Anyway, I’m trying to get the 200 on top of what I already got and I’ll see what happens. If it works maybe I’ll try this one too.

  2. Chris says:

I see the req that it is for new customers only. Any previous data of it’s really enforced, let say someone has a saving account with 360 and then opens the Money Market account, would it possibly work?

  3. Ted says:

These fine print make the offer sound like if you’ve had CO account before but closed, you can get again, whereas previous fine prints are much more strict….not sure if it’s a change of policy?

  4. c3v says:

Can the Money Market bonus be used independently of the Checking bonus?
I took the risk of applying $400 Checking Bonus first, then used this /360bundle400/ link to open a Money Market account. But for Funding section where there was a field for promo code (autfofilled with BUN654 btw) I only had an option to fund from the Checking account, so I had to skip for now. Will I be able to apply the code later?

  5. Maria says:

What if you hold a Capital One credit card? Are you still considered a new customer as it pertains to this offer?

  6. PG says:

Recently signed up for the Money Market for the $200, so by their terms, it looks like I’m NOT eligible for the checking account bonus. Any DP’s on this? Tempted to give it a try anyway- looks like it may or may not result in a chex pull, since I already have an account with them.

    • NN says:

Money Market is considered saving, it’s different from Checking.
as long as it’s your first saving acct with Cap1, you still can receive the bonus. I did the checking back in February and MM last month, received both

  7. Ken says:

Is CapOne changing their terms for the better? Says here that you just can’t be a current customer and there’s no mention of ever having a checking/savings account in the past, even for Electric Orange ING accounts.

I did employer DDs, Fidelity, Alliant, etc and never received the $400 bonus. I opened my account May 16th, and it seems like everyone who opened their account in April or earlier received their bonus, and there are a few people in early May that were successful too. I was not targeted, and I live outside the area.

  8. Shea Travels says:

I’m not seeing in the fine print for this offer that it’s targeted. Am I missing something?

  9. Brian says:

Just noticed that I still have old 360 checking and savings accounts with them … these were originally ING direct accounts that got rolled over to Cap One.
Just closed both accounts and I am tempted to try to get at least one of these bonuses by opening a new Cap One 360 checking or MM account.
For how long must an account be closed before opening a new one?

  10. sad says:

How do you link an external account with Capital One 360 checking?

It says by mail or phone and won’t link out using initial deposits on chrome and firefox.

    Why?

  11. Margot says:

Any data points on whether transferring in and out for a total of $10,000 work for this code (as it did for the last Capital One Savings bonus)?

  12. Sam says:

I recently opened Money market account from them and got 200 bonus. I wonder what this wording means “If you’re an existing Capital One Bank or Capital One 360 customer or a Capital One Associate you won’t be eligible for the bonuses. ”

Since I have money market account, so am I a capital one 360 customer already and not eligible for the checking account bonus. Any DP is much appreciated.

  13. Zeng says:

Can I open the Checking account, but my husband is going to set up direct deposit to me through his payroll, is this going to work to for me get bonus? My work direct deposit take a long time to change. I may miss 60 days deadline.

    Thanks in advance.
