Update: I never did get the bonus from the 200strong promo code for the MMA. I think it was because at one time in the distant past I had an ING direct savings, that I didn’t close until about two years ago when it got auto-closed for zero balance. The 6-8 week timeframe for bonus payout had past in April. I was reluctant to call to get told I was a moron for not reading/following the terms. I wrote it off in my mind as the bank wins this one.

Decided today to call and see what they say about my “missing” bonus. Obviously, highly YMMV, but the rep I spoke to reviewed my account. She noted that I did follow the terms in regards to deposit amount and met the deadlines. She manually posted the bonus in four $50 increments, to the checking account, not the MMA. Online access shows “$50 – ACCOUNT OPENING BONUS HOLD EXPIRES: 08/10/2017”

I would assume there will not be a clawback, but if something like that happens, I will update.

Just goes to show persistence pays off. It could be luck of the draw on which CSR I got on the phone, but I have seen at least one other datapoint about Cap One no longer enforcing the once per lifetime rule and ING accounts. YMMV – crossed fingers.

Nice offer, but targeted apparently.

This promo was a sidebar ad in my Yahoo account this A.M. (https://www.capitalone.com/bank/strong200)

Says “Use invitation code 200STRONG to open your 360 Money Market and
earn your $200 bonus.” NOTE – Not STRONG200 like Dan said!

My situation: I am a current Cap One 360 checking customer, but their system auto-closed my savings account about two years ago when I zeroed the savings balance. I am a converted ING Direct customer, and probably got bonuses to open the checking and savings accounts a long time ago, when they used to run Black Friday promos.

This application allowed me to apply the promo code during sign-up, and gave me an account number w/ the top stating “Your 360 Money Market is open and you’ll receive your $200 bonus within 6-8 weeks.”

YMMV

Looks like you might have slipped through the cracks, based on the following language. Tempted to try it myself although I have had a savings product with them also. Please let us know if/when your bonus posts. The very first wording under the “Open Now” link is:

“PLEASE NOTE: You’ll only be eligible for this bonus offer if you received an email or mail invitation directly from Capital One with an invitation code.”

Further down:

“(If you currently have or have had a Savings product with Capital One Bank, Capital One 360 or ING DIRECT before or are a Capital One Associate, you won’t be eligible for the bonus.)”

Correct. It was a side-bar ad on the right side of the screen from within Yahoo mail login. I thought about taking a screenshot at that time, but doubt that would get me anywhere if they decide not to pay the bonus. They would just fall back to the fine-print.

Unfortunately, terms say 6-8 weeks to get the bonus, so unless they extend this offer, my DP will be here well after the offer is gone. Might be an indicator for future promo’s though.

I already had an ING Direct savings account, so thought I wouldn’t qualify, but opened anyway.

5 December: Account opened
6 December: Opening credit posted
12 December: Called to inquire if I met the requirements, CSR said she would research and call back.
13 December: CSR called back (wow!) and said yes, should post in 6-8 weeks
10 Feb: Nothing posted, I called back to . New CSR looked at the account notes and manually posted two $50 credits.

Overall, great no nonsense bank. If I wasn’t churning, I would probably use them more 🙁

they froze both of our accounts….likely because we kept the 10k in 2 days a piece. Had to call to unlock them. Still no bonuses……

any update john555?

I deposited my 10k on 12/23, funds still not available, CSR said by 1/10, and since I didn’t use the code at sign up per saved CSR chat at the time I have to call in with the merry100 code for them to do it manually.

If you have a quick way to fund the account, CSR on chat today said you can still open the account up to the 31st and qualify, but it also has to be funded by then. I have a transcript of the chat, but won’t waste space entering here since the 31st is close. Just thought I would let you know.

Funded on 12/15, bonus posted 12/22. The original deposit isn’t even cleared yet.

I opened my account 12/2, $10k deposit cleared on 12/7, but still haven’t received my bonus. Seeing the few data points above where people got their $100 already is making me worried that maybe the promo code wasn’t applied to my account. Anyone else still not get their bonus yet?

Just tried to take action using the link, but it’s already showing error message with a different APY. Still the 15th here in PST, so pretty disappointing “deadline.”

Data Point:

I got my $100 bonus 2 days ago, 5 days after opening the account. The initial deposit doesn’t even clear for another week. Agreed with the previous datapoint that the bonus posts ridiculously fast.
