Chase $10,000 On Deposit Special Consideration Has Been Discontinued

If you had $10,000 or more in funds deposited with Chase, it used to be possible to get your bank to submit a special reconsideration form if you were denied for a credit card. This wasn’t able to bypass the Chase 5/24 rule, so it was of limited use to most people. Bankers at Chase received a memo letting them now that this special consideration was being discontinued (basically effective immediately, although Monday was the official date I saw).

[Read: Tips For Reconsideration Phone Calls]

Like I said, this isn’t a particularly big loss for most people and you can still call the Chase regular reconsideration line but there is no longer any special reconsideration for those with $10,000+ deposited with Chase.

I called my Chase banker and confirmed that the Special Reconsideration Form for Personal Card Exceptions has been discontinued. It is still available for Business Card Exceptions, though, so it is still useful for reversing Ink Plus denials, for example.

There is no special reconsideration form for Private Clients, but your Private Client banker should be able to call and argue on your behalf

Thanks Greg, I just got confirmation of the same from a different banker, even got pics of the business recon form and rules. Hope to post tomorrow.

CPC and applied, pending. Called recon and was approved after verifying SSN & birthdate. In the stratosphere over 5/24

I’m in the exact same position and got the opposite result. Was also pre-approved for the card, but got rejected for 5/24.

@Hunter, same thing happened to me this morning. What was your result in February?

In February I got it. Never called in, but my banker said they needed me to fax in a bunch of verification. Banker said the same thing this time, but that they wouldn’t tell her what they needed me to verify and are sending me a letter. I’m hoping it’s approved again in due course, but am not holding my breath.

Is there still a special reconsideration for Chase Private Client customers?

I believe there is; I’m in the process of verifying this point.

In any case, CPC seem to be able to bypass 5/24 so that’s good.

Is it only if you apply through your CPC banker? Or can they pick up from online apps who is CPC?

I believe CPC have a dedicated banker who can call regardless. Probably worth going thru the banker to generate goodwill.

Will try this tomorrow and report back. I am WAY over 5/24 (like 24/24) so will be surprised if it works. Have heard COC can help if you are just over the 5/24 line. Honestly, haven’t seen a ton of evidence that CPC helps that much.

Yeah, with CPC in-branch you have very good odds of approval. CPC gets special treatment. Hope to have a post soon explaining a bit more how it works.
