The Offer
- Receive a bonus of $300 when you use a Chase checking coupon to open a new Chase Premier Plus checking account and set up a direct deposit within 60 days of account opening.
The Fine Print
- Offer not available to existing Chase checking customers, those with fiduciary accounts, or those whose accounts have been closed within 90 days or closed with a negative balance.
- To receive the bonus: 1) Open a new Chase Premier Plus Checking account, which is subject to approval; 2) Deposit $25 or more at account opening; AND 3) Have your direct deposit made to this account within 60 days of account opening. Your direct deposit needs to be an electronic deposit of your paycheck, pension or government benefits (such as Social Security) from your employer or the government.
- After you have completed all the above requirements, we’ll deposit the bonus in your new account within 10 business days.
- You can receive only one new checking account related bonus each calendar year and only one bonus per account.
- Bonus is considered interest and will be reported on IRS Form 1099-INT.
Avoiding Fees
$25 Monthly Fee
This account has a $25 monthly fee, it’s waived if you do either of the following:
- Keep an average daily balance of $15,000 or more in any combination of qualifying Chase checking, savings and other balances
- Have automatic payments to your qualifying linked Chase mortgage from your Chase account. Payments set up through Online Bill Pay do not qualify. Mortgages must be in good standing and be first mortgages with servicing retained by Chase
- Also fee free for active duty and veterans
Early Account Termination Fee
You need to keep this account open for six months, otherwise you will forfeit the bonus.
Our Verdict
Most people will be better off waiting for the $300 total checking bonus to come back (it’s been public several times this year (2016) and you can also purchase them from eBay). That bonus is easier to manage because the requirements to keep the account fee free aren’t so high.
The advantage of this bonus is that it can be opened online. Unfortunately I can’t find any Chase savings bonuses that are available online as well. A little tip is that once you receive the bonus you can downgrade it to a total checking account and that’s even easier to keep fee free. I’d personally either purchase one of the $300/$200 deals from eBay if you live near a branch or go for this deal if you’re not near a branch. Remember if you go into a Chase branch to check for pre-approved offers as they bypass the Chase 5/24 rule. We will add this to our list of the best checking bonuses.

Does anyone know if the “Not valid for customers who have had accounts closed within 90 days” exclusion applies to *any* Chase checking account or just a Premier Plus checking account? Thanks!
To clarify – if I had a Total Checking account closed within 90 days, would that preclude me from being eligible for the Premier Plus Checking offer?
Do you know if the chase $300 checking coupons that are floating around work only for personal or it works for business as well? If it works for business as well, does having a personal prevent you from getting the bonus? Thanks!
One question regarding the eligibility:
It says “Offer not available to existing Chase checking customers”
So, if I have Total Checking account with Chase, then I am not eligible for this offer?
Correct
Oh.. 🙁
You can cancel that account though.
the removed the “apply online” option. 🙁
*they
Dang!
Just note that this offer is not available to non-U.S. citizen
Is it possible to open, get paid, and downgrade all within one month and not get charged a $25 monthly fee? How long is it taking people to get an account number and such? Is a signature card require?
Thanks
Most places will waive for the first two months, can’t remember what Chase’s policy is.
It says it’s unavailable for my zip code (Montana) – does this mean it’s no longer working as stated?
Does Montana have any Chase branches?
Looks like no, at least as of 7 years ago.

I have Chase Total Checking with balance of $15k+. Can I open Premier checking for the bonus and get the annual fee waived because of the total balance?
Existing checking customers are not eligible.
Will I qualify if I currently have a student checking?
No
Has anyone been shutdown/banned for churning Chase bank accounts? This will be my third year running trying to get this exact same deal.
People have had their credit cards shut down from abusing Chase bank accounts with things like excessive MO deposits and other things but opening/closing aaccounts isn’t an issue.
I just took advantage of this offer. The banker was rather curious why I’d been opening and closing my accounts so frequently. Had a talk with the manager, but let me open the account.
Most of the time they don’t care, but sometimes they do.
Chase just denied me an account cause the system said “excessive use of coupon” although I’ve only ever had 1 account/coupon with them about a year ago. Calling a supervisor now. This could be a new crackdown on the churners!
Update: chase just told me calendar year actually means 1 year from when the bonus was applied to checking account (This is for Total Checking). We’ll see in April if that’s the reason or not when I try again.
Keep me updated
