Chase Sapphire Reserve Live IN-BRANCH, 5/24 Not Being Enforced?

Update: If you’re pre-approved in branch, 5/24 shouldn’t be enforced for you. You can read more about that here.

Numerous Reddit data points (1, 2, 34, 5) indicate that the Sapphire Reserve card is now up for application in Chase branches (yes, there are select branches open on Sunday).

Here’s what the flyer looks like:

csr reserve

Even better, there were two approvals (1, 2), one of which was post 5/24. The other one was also likely past 5/24 too being that they are r/churning members.

I had heard rumors that CSR will become available in-branch on 8/21 and online on 8/22 so it’s possible we won’t see a public link today.

But the huge news is that 5/24 isn’t applying. We’ll label this as a rumor for now since it’s possible the data isn’t accurate (trolls, etc.).

This might mean:

  • [Optimist] 5/24 won’t be enforced initially until they work it through in a few days
  • [Semi-optimist] 5/24 won’t apply for branch applications (this hasn’t ever been the case for other cards unless preapproved, but who knows)
  • [Pessimist] Since it hasn’t gone live online yet, they haven’t yet enforced 5/24

There are two data points (1, 2) of being denied an in-branch application on reconsideration due to 5/24, but that doesn’t necessarily mean that it’s being categorically enforced; could just be the decision of a rep.

Check this Chase Locator and filter by Open on Sundays to find out if your local branches are open on Sunday.

I just applied for Sapphire Reserve card in my local branch and was denied due to “too many credit card accounts opened in the last 2 years”, the usual story. I am at 8/24 with credit score 750 but my name was not in the “preapproved list”, when the branch manager typed my SS number.

So branch application is not a success for everyone, but I guess it is worth a shot only when your name appears in the pre-approved list.

Declined at branch. I spoke to a CPC. She was actually very helpfull. I am over 5/24. Made 3 phone calls to different areas. I am not a CPC. One person she spoke to told her that if I was CPC or CPW, it could go to manual underwtriting and be aproved. She told me if I want to be CPC (or higher) to weigh 3 months now because it will be a new application. She wasn’t th emost knowledgable but she was very helpfull. She was learning about the card as I walked in.

Can I use the Global Entry Credit for an authorized user? I have recently got Citi Prestige and want to use one for my wife and the other credit for me.

Wandering if authorized users count in the 5/24 rule? Is removing your spouse as an authorized user a good idea? Will it hurt their credit score or help?

Yes they do count, removing authorized users will depend on the specific account you’re removing and their credit profile.

Became CPC today and applied for CSR and am over 5/24, Got the dreaded 7-10 days. She said it’s Sunday so no use to call so we will try tomorrow. I will go back tomorrow to beg and plead my case. Willing to transfer CL or close others. Hopefully being CPC will help.

Same result for me so adding this DP.

I am CPC and applied in branch with my private banker this morning. Got denied because of being over 5/24 (I am 20+/24). I was also pre approved for the CSR. My banker is submitting a reconsideration on my behalf but I am not hopeful.

It would seem CPC’s ability to overcome 5/24 is overrated.

I am way over 5/24, so I called the reconsideration line 1st thing and instead of doing an application, I requested an upgrade from my Chase Sapphire Preferred. About 15 minutes later I have my Chase Sapphire Reserve. I did not get the sign-up bonus, but I have had the preferred card for 15 months, so in nine months I will downgrade and reapply and get the signing bonus. If anyone else wants to go go this route, please know you need a 10k existing limit as that is an infinite requirement. I am also getting expedited delivery.

the 100k bonus likely won’t be available for long..

Dreaded 7-10 pending after applying in branch @ 20/24 with 800+ score and 260K income with Chase CLs at 20% of income. Pretty sure they’re enforcing 5/24 unless you’re preapproved.

20% of income is pretty low, your credit score and income are obviously great. Pretty clear sign 5/24 is being enforced.
