Chase Sends Out ‘You’re Not Eligible For This Bonus’ Postcards In Error

A few readers have reported that they have recently received communication from Chase stating that they are not eligible for the sign up bonus on a card they applied for because they applied for that offer or a similar offer in the past two years. The problem is that they haven’t actually received the bonus on that card for 24 months. Apparently some of these postcards were sent out in error and cardholders are eligible for that bonus.

If you’ve received one of these postcards from Chase, I’d recommend finding out if it was sent out in error or if you really aren’t eligible for whatever reason. We’ve reached out to Chase to determine how many customers were affected by this mistake and what the root cause was. You can always try your luck and ask for compensation as well.

Another one here. I came home to a postcard about my new United Airlines account. I frantically called and got the “it was in error” answer.

I got a notice as well, right after my new bonus miles posted. It had been about 26 months for the BA card, BUT, I had also received the 25k bonus for 10k spend less than 2 years ago. Would of been sweating it if I didn’t already receive the bonus.

Got one for my Chase United Explorer card after I had earned, received and spent the miles. This is my first time having the card, so it’s clearly in error.

I got the notice and Saturday and called Chase. CSR was very stern – would only agree to “go to bat” for me to get the bonus points I clearly qualified for. Sent a secure message on Sunday and received a very nice phone call on Monday letting me know I WOULD be receiving the bonus.Don’t know what to make of any of that…

I got this same notice and called Chase about it on Saturday. I was worried because I had just submitted and been approved for an offer match with my MPE. The nice rep looked over all my notes and reverified that I was eligible for the match.
In the end said to ignore the card and that she was sending the info to her supervisor.

I got two postcards today and flipped out. Sent off two secure messages to Chase before seeing your post. One was for my BA Visa which I got at about 25 months, the other was for a Marriott that was way over the two years (got at about 40 months). Comforting to see others in same boat, I guess. Seemed off too as I have already gotten the first 50,000 on the BA 100,000 offer, which I don’t think should have posted if I really wasn’t eligible.

Whew – I thought I was losing it. My Marriott got a postcard notice. Was just trying to figure out how to go back and check – since my MEMORY said I never had one. Glad to hear that I am probably right.
