Our Verdict

Most people will have stocked up on American Airline miles when the personal version of this card was offering 100,000 miles. I actually prefer this offer as there is no annual fee involved for the first year and the required spend is quite a lot lower. I’m not familiar with how churnable Citi business cards are, but if I had to hazard a guess it’s likely much more difficult than the personal versions because a reconsideration call is likely (assuming you’re using a SSN and sole prop business rather than an EIN to apply).

This offer is going to be around until November 30, 2014 so there is no need to pull the trigger on this one right away. At the moment I think I’m satisfied with my current stockpile of AA miles, but if I’m able to plan any personal trips and using AA miles makes sense I might reconsider this card.

My history with this card as a reference point:
— Approved for Visa version in Jan 13
— Not approved for MasterCard version in June 13
— Not approved for MasterCard version in Oct 13
— Approved for MasterCard version in Aug 14

I believe this card requires the same 18-months-since-prior-approval methodology as the personal version.
