Our Verdict
The standard sign up bonus on this card is 30,000 miles after $1,000 in purchases within three months, sometimes you see 50,000 bonuses with only $2,000 in spend but recently these are few and far between. If you’re in need of AA miles, then this as good as any offer on this card in my opinion. It’s important to note that you can’t get this bonus if you’ve ever held a CitiBusiness AA Platinum Select account.
Hat tip to Mile Nerd
Perhaps this will help ; I applied for this offer awhile back, was approved…and received the 50K miles . I had this card last in 2012….so it defly isnt a ‘once in a lifetime bonus’ kinda thing like the AMEX cards.
“It’s important to note that you can’t get this bonus if you’ve ever held a CitiBusiness AA Platinum Select account.”
Could you explain this? I’m not seeing the language and never heard Citi doing a once per lifetime bonus.
That language has thrown me off, too.
Here’s what the footnote actually says, “*This CitiBusiness® / AAdvantage® Platinum Select® Card offer is not available to you if you already have a CitiBusiness® / AAdvantage® card account. Additionally, this offer is valid only for first time CitiBusiness® / AAdvantage® Platinum Select® Card cardmembers who apply pursuant to this offer for an account.”
Does this literally meantime once or just once per 18 months after the last cancellation when you’ll be considered a new customer again?
I’ve always wondered, does getting this card automatically give you Elite stats on AA as well?
No. The only card that gives you elite status on a US airline is the Amex Centurion, which gives you Platinum on Delta.
Can anyone confirm that if you apply for a Citi / AAdvantage® Platinum Select Master Card (non business) with the 18 month language, then you are targeted with the same offer in the mail that doesn’t seem to include the 18 month language, does this mean you can apply for this exact same card using the targeted offer and get the bonus again?
I see that you wrote that you wrote, “This CitiBusiness® / AAdvantage® Platinum Select® card offer is not available to you if you already have CitiBusiness® / AAdvantage® card account”. I don’t currently have the Personal AA Platinum Select card, and never have. Is it possible to get this business card and earn its bonus, then later in the year open up the personal platinum select and get that bonus too? Or it doesn’t work in reverse either?
For anyone interested in my comment, i just got off the phone with AAdvantage CC customer service. The rep seemed knowledgeable and confirmed that getting this business card offer does not invalidate you from picking up the personal card offer at a later date. They are two different products. Just a data point for anyone wondering the same thing as me.
I was curious about this part of the article as well. Would it be possible to receive the bonus if using a different business name/concept?
okay i do see that language but is this enforced?
” It’s important to note that you can’t get this bonus if you’ve ever held a CitiBusiness AA Platinum Select account.”
Are you sure about that? since when did Citi implement one time bonus rule. In fact I read through the terms and did not see any language to that effect
