Our Verdict & Warning

There are actually a few warnings I’d like to make. The first is that this contains the 24 month language (bolded above) meaning you’re not eligible if you have opened or closed ANY Citi Hilton card in the last 24 months. You can read & learn more about the 24 month rule here.

The second thing to be aware of is the fact that Hilton are making changes to their loyalty program. One of those changes is the removal of award categories. I don’t trust any program that removes award categories/award charts and I’d say this is doubly true for Hilton.

The third thing to be aware of are Citi’s application rules:

Now currently there is a Citi American Airlines 50,000 mile offer (and can be matched to 60,000 miles) with no 24 month language & also a Citi ThankYou Preferred 15,000 point offer with no 24 month language. I know many of you have signed up for those offers (or two of the AA offers) meaning you won’t be eligible for another Citi personal card for 65 days.

Personally I think this offer kind of sucks given all the Citi restrictions. If you plan to get it then I’d use up those Hilton points sooner rather than later. As always if you are thinking of applying or have any questions, make sure you read through this list of things you should know about Citi credit cards first.

Has anyone been approved for the 40K card with no 24 mo language and then secure messaged Citi to see if they would match to the 75K offer? This is the boat I’m in. Just got 4 40K cards over an 8 day span.

Does Citi allow more than 1 Citi Hilton card? I have a Citi Hilton card which was opened over 2 years ago.
It sounds like I am eligible for this offer?

Does anyone know of a link to the the CitiBusiness AA card with no 24-month language? I’m on a tear with biz cards lately to ease up on the chase-recognized new accounts.

I was approved for an AA Platnium Select using one of the no-24 month language while still having another active card (opened ~18 months ago), and received the letter confirming the bonus

Previous can definitely still be open. Had an AA Platinum open, opened up a new AA Platinum late December, and a third AA Platinum in early January.

What about the Citi 6/6 rule? Many say they don’t approve you if you’ve had 6+ hard pulls in the last 6 months.

I’ve had 2 denials recently and that’s the only culprit I can think of after having received 20+ Citi cards over the years.

I’d be interested in more info about this “rule” too. I’ve definitely seen DPs about it, but nothing definitive

DP. I had the same problem with my Citi application last year. I don’t know how many hard pulls is the limit, but Citi is definitely very sensitive to last 6 months. I had around 6-7 hard pulls at the time of my application and rejected, waited for 3 more months and got approved for the same card.

DP. Denied on CITI® HILTON HHONORSâ„¢ VISA SIGNATURE® CARD about half a year ago. Had 10+ HPs per 6 mo. Credit score is around 740, TCL 140k. Have Citi relations – 2 cards (DC and one recently closed (ATT more)) and Checking account. Recon no luck. HUCA no luck.

I offer a contrary datapoint: I’ve been approved and received two Citi Hilton and one Citi AAdvantage card in the last 6 months and had probably 15+ inquiries in the previous 6 months at the time of approval.

The only issue I had was overall credit limit with Citi for the last card and that was fixed by reallocating credit lines.
