Sellmyrewards.com Review – Legit Or Scam?

sellmyrewards logoSellmyrewards.com is one of the first websites that appears when you do any google search looking to sell or buy reward points. Their website is only one year and two months old, with the first forum mention of them being even sooner (approximately one year ago). Although they claim to have been in business for over 10 years with thousands of customers.

Are They A Scam?

We searched all of the major frequent flyer forums to see if anybody had any successful transactions and what we found wasn’t encouraging.

  • No evidence of anybody completing a transaction
  • Lots of posts complaining about the lack of communication (e.g e-mails not returned and the same with phone calls).

We didn’t find any evidence of anybody having their points stolen or their account shut down because of Sell My Rewards, but that’s because it seems like they can’t even get to the purchasing point with potential customers.

What Points Do They Buy And What Are The Rates?

They provide live quotes for two rewards points:

  • Chase UR, start at 1.3¢ per point (at 10,000 points which is the minimum) and max out at 1.7¢ per point (at 100,000 points)
  •  American Express membership rewards, start at 1.3¢ per point (at 10,000 points which is the minimum) and max out at 1.5¢ per point (at 100,000 points)

If you have other points you’re instructed to contact them and they’ll give you a quote within 24 hours.

What Points/Miles Do They Sell And What Are The Rates?

They sell the following miles/points. They all cost 1.9¢ per point and you can purchase a minimum of 10,000 points in increments of 1,000. Maximum purchases seem to be 1,000,000 points.

  • Delta Skymiles
  • British Airways Avios Miles
  • Air Canada Aeroplan Miles
  • Asia Miles
  • AeroMéxico Miles
  • Alitalia MilleMiglia Miles
  • All Nippon Airways Miles
  • Air France Flying Blue Miles
  • Frontier Airlines Miles
  • Hawaiian Airlines Miles
  • Iberia Plus Miles
  • KrisFlyer Miles
  • Virgin Atlantic Airways Miles
  • United Airlines Mileage Plus Miles
  • Southwest Airlines Rapid Rewards Miles
  • Korean Air Skypass Miles
  • Emirates Skywards Miles

If you’d like to purchase other miles you can contact them to see if they have stock.

The Verdict

Due to sellmyrewards not having a history of positive transactions, we suggest trying to sell your reward points to a different provider. They also have a history of poor communication and if they’ve been in business for 10 years then we find it a little odd that there website is so new AND they don’t have any positive reviews in any of the online forums.

Disclaimer: Selling or buying rewards points is against almost all rewards programs terms of service and can result in account shut down and complete removal of points.
