The Fine Print

  • This offer is open to All SkyMiles Members except those residing in the APAC Region
  • Registered SkyMiles members will earn a bonus of 1,000 miles for every new participating non-airline partner they earn miles with between March 24, 2017 to June 30, 2017.  The term “New” refers to a partner the member has not earned miles with during the period from March 24, 2016 to March 23, 2017
  • Please allow up to 60 days after the qualifying transaction for bonus miles to be added in your account

Our Verdict

In terms of the easiest partners to earn points with, you’re going to be looking at the following:

Keep in mind it’s considered a new partner as long as you haven’t earned SkyMiles through that partner since March 24th, 2016 until March 23, 2017. Transferring SPG points will work, but there is a 1,500 point minimum (SPG Platinum members don’t have this minimum)

I booked and stayed at a hotel with the reservation made through Delta.com in early April. The miles never posted to my account for the stay. I complained to Delta and finally the posted the miles today (July 8, 2017). Since it is past the promotional period is this stay eligible for the bonus miles? I did make the stay and the booking during the promotional period.

Has anyone received miles from partnered activity as of yet? I have credited a Marriott stay, transferred SPG points, transferred MR points and bought something from SkyMiles Shopping and still nothing as of yet.

Skymiles shopping miles posted – NO BONUS MILES! What the heck. I double checked and I’m all registered – first time activity.

Same here, but it says “Please allow up to 60 days after the qualifying transaction for bonus miles to be added in your account”. We just need to be patient…

The 3,000 miles dining bonus is more complicated:

For a limited time, join SkyMiles® Dining and earn (within your first 30 days):
500 bonus miles* for your first visit to a participating restaurant;
1,000 bonus miles for your second visit to a participating restaurant;
1,500 bonus miles for your third visit to a participating restaurant
for a grand total of 3,000 bonus miles.

To earn rewards through this bonus, you must first register for the bonus. Within 30 days of creating a dining profile, you must dine at any participating restaurants, bars, or clubs and spend at least $30 (including tax and tip) on each check. Within 30 days of every visit, you must also complete a post-dine survey of the restaurant, bar, or club. Please note that all checks must be paid for with a credit or debit card registered with SkyMiles Dining at the time of the visit.

I found I am already a member from years ago, so I assume any dine would count. Now to pick a local grubby place for a snack….

If SPG transfers count, I wonder if a Hilton transfer would also count for the 1000?

i think it would… i just wonder if transfer from each hotel chain would count separately? or is it just 1k miles for doing hotel transfers in general?

It looks like each parent brand counts. “Some partners offer multiple ways to earn miles under different products, brands, merchants, conversion of currency to miles, etc. These will still be considered as a single partner. Some examples of these cases are: Hotels booked via delta.com Hotels or Agoda.com, merchants under the SkyMiles Shopping program, restaurants under the SkyMiles Dining program, Cruises under the SkyMiles Cruises program, hotel brands under the same Hotel portfolio, partner activity and a points conversion to miles from the same partner and others.”
