The Fine Print
Our Verdict
Pretty good deal. It ends up like a 9% discount on either $220 or $440 of Best Buy gift cards, but only if you have immediate use for the $20/$40 Â savings code since those have a short shelf life of 3/19 – 4/1.
You’ll also earn Best Buy Rewards (1%, I think) if you input your Best Buy Rewards info at checkout on Cashstar.
Use INK Preferred for 3x on Cashstar if you have that card. You can try a portal for an extra 1%, but it doesn’t look promising.
Hat tip to Slickdeals
Has anyone received the bonus code? I never got an email with it…
never mind. typed the wrong email for purchasing it originally; two minutes on the phone with Best Buy Customer Service fixed it!
Anyone able to scale this up? Is the limit enforced based on past experiences?
Can you use the bonus $20 to buy something between 3/19/17-4/1/17, then return said item on 04/05/17 and you get a regular gift card back? Has this worked in prior times this deal has come up?
Just in case there is nothing I want to buy from Best Buy between 03/19/17 – 04/01/17.
the bonus “gift card” is only good for two weeks in March. They really are hoping you’ll forget to use it.
Nevermind. I’ll pass on this. Better to use the VISA deal.
Kind of BS they wait a month to email you the $20 code?
Why won’t the site let me buy a $200 gift card? It’s got $150 and $250 but no $200…
you can select your own amount
Can saving codes be used to buy any gift card in store or online?
It should work to buy a third-party gift card (e.g. gas, eBay) in a Best Buy store.
How about using the code to buy an ebay gift card online?
I bought 2 200+ gift cards the first I saw said 270 Best Buy gift cards for 250 the second said 250 not 270?
Huh? It’s $200 + $20 for $200.
Oh, I see what you are asking. You have to input $200 manually as your selected denom. Added to the post.
That doesn’t appear to be possible on the mobile site, just FYI. That’s why I was having trouble earlier.
Key question – Use this $200 BB gift card to buy a $200 Visa Gift Card? (I know about the activation fee)
This deal is an extra bonus to me because I am a mere 100 best buy rewards from a $20 Best buy reward redemption which I have used to buy 3rd party gift cards. If it works I get CC bonus points, the $200 visa gift card, the $20 savings code, and my $20 Best buy rewards all for the ~$5 visa activation fee.

Found that with a search of DoC after I posted. Too bad. I’m not interesting in reselling for a profit but also don’t have a need for $200 worth of stuff at BestBuy at this time. Thanks for the link for other readers. It’s an obvious thought.
