Free $20 in Plenti with Exxon Speedpass Use

The Offer

Direct Link

  • Earn 2,000 bonus Plenti points when you use the Exxon Speedpass+ app to pay three times

The Fine Print

  • Valid through August 31, 2017
  • Must fill-up at least 10 gallons each of the three fill-ups to be eligible for the bonus points

Our Verdict

The terms aren’t clear if this promotion will work for those who already have the Speedpass app or only for new downloads. (A data point in the comments indicates it’ll work for existing users too and also that a fill-up paid with Plenti points counts too.)

In my area, Exxon is more expensive and I don’t think I’ll bother with this deal for now. If Exxon has good prices in your area, this deal is a relatively simple way of earning $20 in free Plenti which can get you $20 in free Exxon gas or $20 toward any of the other Plenti partners. Just make sure your Plenti account is properly linked.

How do you know? Is there some listing on a website of which stations accept it?

Nope, I went ahead and tried gas Station by Gas Station using the QR Code, And every time i went it says Sorry Speedpaas not Supported this will be added soon.

Later realized in app we can see the nearest locations and nothing near my address in 20 Miles.

I’ve seen Speedpass mentioned on ads in Mobils I’ve gone to. Are you saying that despite that they may not actually accept Speedpass?

I guess I will check out the app when I have a chance.

Are certain phones unable to use this like how Android Pay doesn’t work without NFC?

The app is available to download on my phone. So is that a good sign?

So unfair to Prius drivers. My fill ups are always around 9 gallons at the most.

These deals are so dumb. My car can’t even hold 10 gallons!

What is the point of calling a deal stupid just because you can’t possibly imagine how it would apply to you?

My guess is that Exxon and Amex didn’t intentionally exclude hybrid vehicles on these promotions. They probably just think that a Prius can hold 10 gallons.

I wasn’t trying to rock the boat or anything with the comment. It sounds like an excellent deal for people with larger vehicles!

A Prius? My girlfriend has a Prius and she’s doing this offer, especially since they don’t have a grocery store that offers gas deals in her area. Maybe you just have to think outside the box a little bit.

Too bad you can’t use Exxon gift cards on this deal since it requires SpeedPass. The usual random Exxon deals on Plenti are sometimes decent because you can buy gift cards at eBay and pay cash prices with them.

My local Exxon station treats Exxon gift cards as credit cards unfortunately, so YMMV on this.

Data point- I use daily speed pass app last night to pay for gas (did not even know about promo). I used $25 in Plenti points. I just logged into app now and it shows I have achieved 1 of 3 to qualify for promo.

This is a no brainer for me. My local Mobil is the cheapest in the area anyways at $2.40. This deal gives me 38.33 gallons for $72, which is $1.88 per gallon – a 21.74% discount.
