Our Verdict

If you’re sending under $1,000 then there is a fee of $3.99 – you can pay via your bank or debit card. Current rate is listed as 67.09 INR (better than the xe mid market rate when I checked). This is obviously a pretty great deal, unfortunately you’ll need to know somebody in India so you can send them the $50. After the fee you’ll becoming out ahead $36 in Amazon credit (slightly less really as it isn’t as good as cash and you’ll probably lose some money on the exchange rate possibly).

Some people have reported receiving their gift cards instantly on the slickdeals thread, others haven’t. Not sure what the difference is. Previous deals have been for $30 in Amazon credit, so not quite as good.

They don’t offer the best rates. I always check https://www.goldvalue.info/2019/11/euro-to-rupee-.html? Find the best rates

Special exchange rate ($1 to ₹65+) on your first transfer; better than the market rate.

This is a very slick deal if you know or trust someone that has an Indian bank account number.

If anyone wants to participate in it, but does NOT have an Indian bank account, let me know. We can split the profit. My email is sid1 8 2 59 [at G-M-A-I-L] dot c0m

This was a very easy money maker.. I didn’t want to risk sending 1000$ (which does not have Processing fee of 4$) so sent just $50.. I received the $40 amazon gc as soon as I submitted the transfer. I think using debit card makes it faster – if you use bank transfer it will take 5 days to complete. Received the amount in Indian bank account sooner too. I use XOOM money transfer for my regular transfers and this had a better transfer rate for USD-INR as well. Looks like I will give this guys more business for future transfers. All in all a very Good deal while it lasts !

Eh they don’t offer the best exchange rates. I always check http://www.compareremit.com/todays-best-dollar-to-rupee-exchange-rate/ and find that WesternUnion offers the best exchange rate.

Ok, got the $40 GC. So the GC arrived about 7 minutes after I submitted the transfer.

Remitted $50 using a debit card to a relative’s HDFC account in India. Money showed up in the HDFC account within a few minutes of submitting the transfer, but still says “processing” on Remitly’s side.

So obviously haven’t received the $40 Amazon GC yet. Hopefully it’ll be sent within 1 hr.
