[Dead] How To Get 100,000 Points From The Chase Ink Preferred

Update: Seems like this is no longer working.

100,000 Point Bonus

Chase offers the Chase Ink Preferred card, the current sign up bonus is 80,000 points after $5,000 in spend within the first three months. There is a targeted offer for 100,000 points with the same minimum spend requirement but lots of people have been able to get the 100,000 point offer.

At first it was thought that you needed to manually request a match to this 100,000 point offer but there are lots of data points in this reddit thread stating otherwise. Some things to note:

  • All application links state the 80,000 bonus, so you’ll likely have little recourse if you don’t get the 100,000 points.
  • Best to use a referral link (this not only helps other readers, but lots/all of the positive datapoints are from people using referral links with). You can find and share your referral links here.
  • Might be advisable to send a secured message after applying confirming the sign up bonus attached to your account, that way you have a “paper trail” if needed later.
  • I suspect this will go away on June 3rd when the increased targeted bonus disappears (pictured below)

Card Details

Chase INK Preferred main post

  • 95 annual fee, not waived the first year
  • No foreign transaction fees
  • Points Are Worth 25% More In Travel Rewards (won’t matter if you have CSR which gets 50%)
  • Primary rental car insurance
  • Cell phone insurance
  • Subject to Chase 5/24 rule

This card earns at the following rates per $1 spent:

  • 3x points per $1 spent on the first $150,000 in combined purchases on travel, shipping purchases, internet, cable and phone services, advertising purchases made with social media sites and search engines each account anniversary year
  • 1x points on all other purchases

Our Verdict

I doubt we will ever see a higher bonus than 100,000 points on this card, obviously there is a lot of risk that you’ll only received 80,000 points but that’s still a pretty good sign up bonus. If I was under 5/24 then I’d be picking up this card now (keep in mind that this card won’t count towards your 5/24 total either as it’s a business card).

After reading your post, I thought I’d give it a try. I went through secure messages and was shot down. Here’s my transcript:

Original Message Follows:
————————

Hello, I recently applied for and received the new Ink Business Preferred Visa with the 80,000 point reward (after fulfilling the requirements) . I understand that the reward increased to 100,000 points for this card during this same time frame. My chase banker suggested I inquire about receiving the additional 20,000 points by escalating a request to the marketing back office. I would appreciate consideration to increase my reward to match the 100,000 offer. Thanks!

Regards, S

tentative DP: my business partner and i went into our Chase branch on Monday to discuss some general stuff with them and also to inquire about the Ink Preferred. the rep was adamant the 100k was dead but when we went through the application and she handed us the terms and conditions i noticed that it said 100k bonus and then when my partner went through the application she noticed this time that it went to 100k on our screen. both our apps went to pending and i havent heard yet. but fingers crossed we get approved.

Today is 06/23, and after speaking to local branch representatives and a relationship manager for 2.5 hours, I managed to get approved and a 100k bonus point sign-up offer!

Sorry, I mean 06/22. Does anyone know if this business credit card falls under the 5/24 rule?

As of May 23 I am at 4/24 (one of which is an authorized user) and plan to apply for one or more Chase cards on June 1. What are my chances of getting approved for an Ink Preferred card when I already have a regular 3 yr old Ink card and a 3 mo. old Marriotts Premier Business card? I also want to apply for a Chase Sapphire card. Is there a suggested strategy I should use?

@TIM how did the application go? I’m in the same boat as far as business cards.

Just to remind everybody… there is still a very good option for you to go to a branch, and apply with Business Relationship Manager on a paper application. Your app will go through a special lending department, and will NOT be a subject of 5/24 (confirmed with my BRM). 100K offer is printed on that paper application, so there will be nothing to ask to match.. Same paper application has an option for $500 offer for Ink Cash card (instead of regular $300). In case if you already got a bonus on Preferred $500 (50K points) on Cash with no annual fee is also not a bad deal.

I did that and got Ink Preferred with 100K this way just a couple of weeks ago. Nothing special was required – just needed the regular re-allocation of CL. Data Point: Reallocation of CL was needed because my combined CL under Sole Proprietorship otherwise would have climbed over $75K. Having some credit under personal or other corporations was not a problem.

My only concern about my new card if I would actually get the bonus, as I received one 4 months ago with a card under my corporation (under its own EIN). I was assured by BRM and re-assured by CSR that I will. I will report here at DOC after I meet the spending requirements.

The option to apply in branch with BRM for 100K is good until some time in August of 2017 (do not remember the exact end date, sorry).

Good luck

Although it’s a business card, doesn’t Chase still see it and count it for 5/24? That”s what I’ve always thought..

They do not count business cards towards 5/24. 5/24 is based on the number of credit card accounts opened within the past 24 months on your personal credit report pulled at the time of application.

According to this link, all Chase business cards count toward the 5/24 rule except for the Marriott Premier Biz card.

I applied via a referral link Tuesday last week. The referral link was the Twitter one from an Ink+ and had the unique identifiers (SPID, etc) matching many reports of 100k bonus. I was approved Thursday and SM’d that night asking what my bonus was. Chase replied 80k.

What I think might have happened is perhaps the people reporting 100k were actually targeted for the 100k offer but never received an email about it. Then when they applied via referral 80k link, Chase systems automatically attached the targeted 100k bonus.

Just a thought.

How do you get in branch pre approval for chase business card? I have a biz checking and ink plus but haven’t see any pre approval for my business. I got in branch pre approved for all personal cards so I’m not sure what I’m doing wrong.

Agreed. We can send a man to the moon, but we don’t yet understand Chase business card pre-approvals. Also, if you want real bolillos, you still have to go to Mexico City.

Not enough data point on chase business card I guess, so I applied for my chase ink right before all business cards were going to be under 5/24 and opened a biz checking account at the same time. It has been over a year and no pre approvals for anything business since. I did apply for a sapphire when I was pre approved for a personal card, that was almost 9 months ago. I guess wait a little more and see…

Mixed-up, muddled-up, shook-up world. Reddit lately has been reporting some successes getting to 100K Ink signup following phone pleas, although no data I’ve seen details the depths of groveling to which successful applicants have sunk. That was going to be my route, once I’ve met spending on an Ink I opened in-branch two weeks ago after the banker told me she had personally verified that 4/24 is just a rumor, and the business relationship manger was out-of-town.

As an additional data point, I applied in branch, got the 80k bonus, and then read about the 100k. Spoke with a BRM (note: I’m not applicable for business management nor Chase Private Client) who told me she couldn’t match me. Called Chase (honestly don’t remember if I also SMed) who said they would review. Received a letter saying they would honor the 100K if minimum spend was met.
