[Expired] Get Amazon Echo for just $130 (6/26 only) or Get the Free Version with Dash Wand

Amazon has a special sale running today to get $50 off an Amazon Echo device.

It’s usually $179.99 and now is just $129.99. This is a one-day sale which ends midnight tonight.

$129 Amazon Alexa link (this link is our Amazon affiliate link, thanks for using if you do)

Interestingly, we posted last week that it’s now possible to get the Amazon Dash Wand for $20 with a $20 credit after registering the device. Though Dash Wand’s are temporarily out of stock, you can still order now and wait for it to ship when it comes back in stock.

An interesting thing is that a reader tells us that Dash Wands work for Alexa-only deals (see this comment for more information). The only thing that you’re missing out on with Dash Wand is the music or do timers; otherwise, it’s apparently a full-functioning Alexa device, including no Add-On Item shipping limitation and Alexa-only deals, with a price tag of essentially zero

I have this wand and I can not get it to work. I chatted for help and they registered it, which got me my $20, but it’s not connected to my network so I can’t get alexa deals. It’s driving me nuts. I have no idea why it’s not working, everything is correct. I have connected devices before with no issue. It makes me think they might be having this problem because she didn’t even try to walk me through it or anything, just registered it for me. But now I can’t order with it. Maybe I’ll try chatting again. Frustrated.

FWIW, I have my wifi router set up with two networks: the ?3g and 5g versions (this used to be the default option when I bought it several years ago).

Some devices only see the 3g network, and don’t show the 5g network.

The Dash Wand is one of those devices. So it may not work if your wireless network is 5g only (no idea how to find this out except in your router settings).

2g is the correct. It’s actually 2.4ghz, but yeah…2g for short…

Thanks. That makes more sense than 3g (for your cell phone).

That’s one I’ll have to pass on to my husband. I’m not that computer literate. I appreciate having a place to start with. Thanks for the info!

Also, make sure that you open up a mobile browser on your phone and go to https://www.amazon.com/wandsetup in order to setup the wand.

I can confirm the Dash Wand works for Add-on items (just make sure you have voice purchasing on). But it does not seem to work for Alexa only deals.

Can you clarify what didn’t work for you? It worked for me for the $0.99 dash button Alexa only deals x 3.

Just say whatever is in the blue box for that item.

For example, I said “Alexa, order a Charmin Dash Button” and she ordered one for $0.99 which I received.

Does this not work for you?

To be clear, the proof is in the second image (Click on “Load 1 more image”).

You will see the line “Alexa -$4.00”

I don’t have any other Alexa device besides the free Dash Wand, as I am too cheap (oops… frugal)

Yes it works on some things but majority of the items it did not work on.

Try adding the raisins and it will charge the full price and not the discounted price. The vitamin D2 worked with the discounted price as well. I think it’s just hit or miss majority of the items being a miss..

Try testing it on other items and not the dash buttons and let me know if you have the same experience..

Thanks, Alex, for your reply that it works for some items but not for others.

I don’t have it connected to my account anymore, as I really only got it to see if it worked with those specific deals (to get basically $4 credit applied to my account and use for other purchases) and disconnected it/removed it from my account afterwards.

I will try it again when I re-connect it.

To be fair, in my initial comment (https://www.doctorofcredit.com/free-amazon-dash-wand-20-shopping-credit/#comment-425058), which DoC linked, I said:
“So, just to confirm, the Dash Wand DOES work with Alexa’s deals, at the very least with the 3 Dash button ones.”

So really, all I confirmed was that it works with the 3 Dash button ones, which is really all I wanted to know for my own purposes.

Thanks for the doing the more thorough testing, which I will have to try at some point.

Ok, so I am supposed to be studying for an important exam.

But I went ahead and plugged in my Alexa.

Here is what I found – take away, I think that the Dash Wand actually DOES WORK WITH THE ALEXA-ONLY DEALS.

Specifically, if you look here:
https://www.amazon.com/alexa-voice-shopping/b?ie=UTF8&node=14552177011

You will see that only SOME of the deals have the blue text “Only with Alexa.” MOST of the other deals DO NOT have this text – e.g., the raisins. Additionally, if you click on those deals, you will see that the $1 (or whatever amount) off is actually a coupon that you must click on to get that price.

Based on a random sampling, the deals that show “Alexa-only” DO work with the Dash Wand.

Alex?

OK so after extensive analyzing, 007 and myself have figured out Alexa Deals with Dash Wand:

1. Visit https://www.amazon.com/alexa-voice-shopping/b?ie=UTF8&node=14552177011

2. Look out for the blue label under the listing for the item that says “Only with Alexa”.

3. Order with voice prompt shown in listing and it will give the same Alexa price.

4. Other items that do not show “Only with Alexa” will need to be added manually to clip coupons before getting the discounted price.

Thanks @007 for helping me test this!

So to summarize, with the Dash Wand you can order Alexa deals, and Add-on items with no minimum spend. Just make sure you have Voice Purchasing on (by downloading Alexa app and going to settings) in order to successfully order Add-on items with no minimum requirement.

I uploaded some screenshots to demonstrate what I mean by the “Only with Alexa” text and the coupon that actually must be applied to get the deal for the other (not “Only with Alexa” deals).

I got the dash wand. That is pretty awesome. For just the tax amount($1.15) it is a great deal.
At the least I like to hear weather when I leave in the morning!

“The only thing that you’re missing out on with Dash Wand is the music”

Well it doesn’t do timers either (which is disappointing since it is supposed to be a kitchen/pantry device), but I’m not going to complain about something that was virtually free.
