Hilton HHonors From American Express 50,000 Point + $50 Statement Credit Offer

The Offer

• Earn a $50 statement credit after your first purchase and 50,000 Hilton HHonors points after you spend $750 or more within the first three months on the Hilton HHonors card from American Express. Here is how to get this offer:
  • Start making any booking on Hilton.com
  • Continue until the payment page
  • At the bottom next to the “Payment Information” section you’ll see the following advertisement (click that advertisement and follow the prompts to apply):

You don’t need to complete the booking to get this offer, after you’ve applied you can just abandon the booking. It looks like Hilton is now joining in and offering an increased sign up bonus on one of their card when you make a booking (SPG offers a 30,000 point bonus and the Chase IHG card offers 80,000 points + $50 statement credit).

• Welcome bonus offer not available to applicants who have or have had this product
• Earns at the following rates:
  • 7x Hilton points on all purchases made on properties within the Hilton portfolio
  • 5x Hilton points on U.S restaurants, gas stations & supermarkets
  • 3x Hilton points on all other purchases

Our Verdict

Because this card is an American Express personal card, it’s important to remember that you can now only get each sign up bonus once per lifetime. This card did offer a 65,000 point bonus back in November of 2012, but it required you to spend at least $3,000 and did not come with the $50 statement credit.

Personally 50,000 Hilton points doesn’t really excite me and neither does a $50 statement credit. I’d be more interested if this card came with at least a $100 statement credit or more Hilton points, but given that it’s a no annual fee card I don’t see that happening in the near future.
