The Offer
- Receive a sign up bonus of $100 when you open an active checking account. They don’t list what an active checking account is on the site, so I e-mailed them and here is their response:
In order to qualify for the bonus for the active checking account, your checking account needs to be active meaning that you will have to use your checking account as your primary checking account. Some examples may include, using your debit card to show activity in your account, a direct deposit from your employer, or having a balance of $500 in your account for 30 days or more, or making regular deposits in your checking account. Once your account is open then it will be reviewed over a 45 day period to see if it qualifies.
- If somebody refers you they will also receive a $100 bonus when you open an active checking account (you’ll still earn the $100 bonus as well). Feel free to share your referrals in the comments below.
The Fine Print
- See above
- All bank account bonuses are treated as income/interest and as such you have to pay taxes on them
Avoiding Fees
There is no monthly fee for their checking account. I wasn’t able to find a fee schedule so unsure if there is any early account termination fee or not.
Our Verdict
I really don’t like how vague the requirements are, it looks like they will check each account manually and just decide if they think it’s being used as a primary checking account or not, for that reason I wouldn’t recommend this bonus. If anybody does sign up, share your data points in the comments below.
