Summer Double Offer
- Get double fuel points on weekends the entire summer through July 31
- Weekends are defined as Friday, Saturday, and Sunday
Fuel points on gift cards will not be doubled; you’ll get the regular 2x as usual, but it won’t be doubled to 4x. Fuel points on ordinary purchases will be doubled and earn 2x per dollar instead of 1x per dollar.

- Download the digital coupon just one time, then earn double fuel points every time you shop Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays through July 31

The standard deal at Kroger stores is 2x fuel points on gift card purchases, and they’ll occasionally release offers like this one to get 4x fuel points on gift cards.
It appears that all gift cards are included in this offer – double check at the store that this is true. In the past, there have been mixed reports on whether fixed-denomination Visa/MC/Amex gift cards worked to trigger the bonus fuel points. The terms imply that they do work, but it’s YMMV in practice.

Some options include savings on Amex gift cards, Sephora gift cards, Applebee’s, JCPenny, Spa, Fandango, and more.
These coupons are all valid until May 21, but you’ll want to use them on May 6 – May 8 so that it will stack with the 4x fuel points.
Our Verdict
Nice to see fuel points deals back, and it pairs beautifully with the 5x rewards using the Chase Freedom card for Q2 2016.
To maximize the deal even further, remember that you can get free cell phone service with Kroger when you earn fuel rewards points; no points are used up with this benefit, it’s just an additional free perk which you get from fuel points, aside from the free gas.
Points Details
Usually, every 1000 points gets you a discount of $1 per gallon with a 35-gallon limit, a max value of $35 per 1000-points. These details do vary by store and region.

I bought $500 Visa and another $500 mastercard gift card each from Kroger. I set my PIN (reset it to better number)…..went to Kroger store to Buy a MO but was denied, saying i need my Name on the debit card to purchase MO with it.
Is this true or my bad luck on that day? Any suggestions/thoughts/inputs?
and if i cannot use them to Buy MO. how do i liquidate them easily apart from Using them for payment at stores? Any other options like Using them to Load BB/Redcard or Serve?

VGCs and MCGCs purchased at Kroger will have a PIN upon request. The instructions for obtaining a PIN are inside the package. As for being able to load BB or Serve with Kroger VGCs, I dont know. IME, money orders may be purchased using only cash, PIN debit or Kroger branded gift cards.
15 cards 0f $100 x $3.95 fee/card (Almost $60 which nullifes Chase 5x freedom card points)……….compared to 3 cards of $500 x$5.95 fee….($17 almost).

I say yes. If you purchase 15 $100 fixed value VGCs at Kroger during a 4x promotion, you will earn 6000 fuel points. Those fuel points can be redeemed at Kroger Fuel Centers in multiples of 100 up to 1000. 1000 fuel points will get you $1 off each and every gallon of gas up to 35 gallons on one fillup. So $35 x 6 fillups = $210.00 in fuel savings – $60 in load fees = $150 in net savings. Three $500.00 variable load VGCs will earn you 0 fuel points and 0 fuel savings. I hope that Ive explained this clearly.
Is there still $3.95 fee? the min fee, fixed or variable, is $5.95
I bought $1500 Visa Gift Cards with Chase Freedom ( will get 7500 points worth $75)
BUT 4X fuel points are not available on either Visa or AMEX gift cards purchase….I called Kroger customer service and they told me that the 4X fuel points are ONLY AVAILABLE ON NON VISA/MC/AMEX Gift cards purchase.

Look at your receipt. If the gift cards were fixed value, you should have earned at least 3000 fuel points. If the gift cards were variable load, you earn 0 fuel points. Your receipt will tell you how many fuel points you earned per transaction plus the number of fuel points youve earned this month.
i did, zero fuel points, as both 2x and 4x promotion DOES NOT APPLY TO VISA OR MASTERCARD OR AMERICAN EXPRESS Fixed Value giftcards (I opted for the $20-$500 load giftcards and asked them to load $500 on each giftcard……….This is maximum giftcard value they have, they DO NOT HAVE $500 value fixed Giftcards……
The $20-$500 Visa,MC, Amex are NOT fixed value, they are variable load. You determine the value of the gift card makes them variable load. If you had purchased 15 $100 fixed value VGCs , you would have earned bonus fuel points. Visa, MC and Amex gift cards do in fact earn fuel points at Kroger but only for fixed value cards.
shoot, just found out that the $5 stmt credit is only good at amex online after reading the details. oh well, at least get 400 fuel pts; if max out with 35 gal for $14 off of gas, will still come out a bit ahead

Kroger and Jay C gift cards DO NOT earn fuel points. Variable load Visa, MasterCard and Amex gift cards DO NOT earn fuel points. Fixed value Visa, MasterCard, Amex, restaurant, retail and prepaid phone cards always earn at least 2x fuel points. Prepaid 1-2-3 rewards cards and Green Dot cards and refills also do not earn fuel points.

By VGC, do you mean Vanilla or Visa? The Kroger stores in my area (Louisville,Ky) dont carry Vanilla cards. Yes, Kroger does give 4x fuel points on fixed value Visa gift cards only during special promotions.

I’ve long wondered about online purchases if they get the regular 2x always and if they get 4x on promo. This time, it needs a digital coupon so I don’t think it will work.
I have always gotten 4x the fuel points from buy gift cards online during the promotions. You’ll have the option to add your Kroger ID during the check out screen.

When buying online it comes from Giftcard mall and does not code as groceries.
