How did you find out that this is applicable to Florida? When trying to open an account, all the zip codes start with a 7, and there are no zip codes in FL that start with a 7….they all start with a 3 (plus I don’t recognize any of the cities). There is an option for “Other” in the zip code drop down.

I looked at their locations. There is one (normal) Florida branch in Destin which is not close to me at all. But there are Mortgage Loan Production Offices in my hometown. Sorta tempted to try it, but would like to find out if its a hard pull first (otherwise, that’s just too many unknowns for me).

I entered one of the defined zip codes in the dropdown and then proceeded with my FL home address and zip code.

No cc funding. Only ach transfer.

I got a screen at the end congratulating on successfully opening. Not able to get into online banking due to needing an account number which I did not get. Might be emailed/mailed?

creditkarma and experian.com show no hard pulls.

    • Honestly I can’t remember how I determined the location eligibility, I think based on where they have branches but not 100% sure.

    • artgriego says:

I could not proceed after selecting “Other”:

“Thank you for considering First Bank & Trust. We are unable to open online accounts outside of our market area at this time. If you would like to open an account, please visit any one of our locations. For questions please call Customer Service at 504-584-5970.”

    • Jonathan says:

All of the zips are in LA. Not sure what this means in terms of availability.

I will be doing this today to test it out as I’m in NOLA. Will report any results on HP, CC Funding, Etc

  3. Mr. Poster says:

All you can do is submit your information online, you can’t open the account today.

“Thank you for submitting an online account opening application with First Bank and Trust. Your application has been submitted for further review. A banker will contact you within 24 hours (or the next business day) of your application submittal. If you have questions or need further information, please contact us toll free at 1-877-426-2498 or 504-584-5970.”

I tried with other and it was your not eligible and I agree I live in Florida and I didn’t see any Florida zip code the branch in Florida has this address 495 Grand Blvd, Suite 270 Miramar Beach, FL 32550

    • jackgopack4 says:

I put 70001 in the drop down list then filled in my Pensacola zip code in the full information and my application was accepted. Of course Miramar Beach is only about 45min-1hr away from me

      • JuicyJosh says:

Did you have to call in and speak with a banker like al260513 mentioned above? Other than that, funding process started and account issued? Im in Jax. Def want to give it a shot but was holding DPs from those that applied already.

        • jackgopack4 says:

Did not, although I presume it was due to my proximity to the branch. I had another bank recently that the nearest branch was Destin and I avoided any issues opening like other people in central or east Florida had.

          • JuicyJosh says:

Thanks for the info. I think i just need to go for it. Doubt any extra inquiries will hurt at this point.

    • Brian says:

So interesting DP I said screw it and tried to apply and just picked a zip code. Once I was in the application it self I could not find the green account to select so I didn’t complete the application. The bank noticed I did not complete the app and emailed me so I said whatever and called in. The csr asked where I was living so I said Florida and she asked what city and I said Orlando. Apparently someone else in Orlando asked about this (Hello fellow churner) and said they are having IT add more zip codes. So maybe Florida will work even if not close to the panhandle. If anyone saw the green checking account as a option to select let me know.

  5. FiSnowball says:

About to jump into the fine print myself, is the requirement a $500 a one time DD or must it be recurring monthly?

“Receive a qualifying direct deposit of $500+ within 60 days of account opening”

“You must establish qualifying Direct *Deposits of at least $500 *per monthly statement* on your account within 60 days of account opening.”

    • Chris says:

I’m pretty sure, it means just one DD is enough…or two in the same monthly statement totaling 500 plus. But I’ll just do one (a real one) for 500.

  6. Michael says:

What I want to know is can I go in branch and do this if I don’t live anywhere near a branch…. I’ll be in New Orleans in two weeks, would be a nice little bonus on my trip 😀

  7. Yan says:

Unable to open account in FL.

“Thank you for considering First Bank & Trust. We are unable to open online accounts outside of our market area at this time. If you would like to open an account, please visit any one of our locations. For questions please call Customer Service at 504-584-5970.”

    • JuicyJosh says:

I wouldn’t necessarily count us Floridians out yet. Lets see DPs from those who applied earlier. Often banks use that tool to dissuade the out of area app but can get around using diff zip on tool and legit zip on app.

  8. Chris says:

    Hard/soft pull: Unknown
    ChexSystems: Unknown
    Anyone with DP??

  9. GP says:

    Hi,

I live in New Orleans and opened an account online today. I noticed the fine print said only one cash bonus per household.

  10. jackgopack4 says:

Anyone find the touting/transit number anywhere?

I opened an account (Pensacola, FL) but cannot for the life of me find that info on their website and it’s too late to call right meow.

    • jackgopack4 says:

Various third party sites say 065002289 so I’ll try a small transfer from my USAA first

    • JuicyJosh says:

Do I look like a cat to you, boy? Am I jumpin’ around all nimbly bimbly from tree to tree? Am I drinking milk from a saucer? Do you see me eating mice?

  11. Kyle B says:

Just called a customer service rep. She said that is a recurring $500 direct deposit every month, not just a one time thing in order to get the bonus.
