More Information On Chase & Their Free FICO Score Benefit

Yesterday we announced that Chase would be offering a free FICO score on their Chase Slate product. I have a couple of updates to give about this new benefit:

  • EMV chip + access to the credit dashboard as well as the free FICO score will be rolled out slowly over the course of 2015. If you want to have access immediately, simply call Chase using the number on the back of your card and request it.
  • Chase are using the FICO classic 2008 scoring model based on Experian data
  • Scores will be updated monthly, there is no activity requirement for the score to be updated (you can see how often other card issuers update here)

Keep in mind that Chase has no intention of adding this benefit to any of their other cards, so if you really want a free FICO score from Chase you’ll need to apply for this card or downgrade an existing card to the Chase Slate. Personally I think you’d be much better off downgrading to the Chase Freedom to take advantage of the 5% rotating categories and getting another credit card that comes with a free FICO score instead.

Bill,

Do you know if this score is available to existing card holders? I don’t see this dashboard on my slate account.

Talked to Chase about product change from freedom or ink bold, but they said, 0% offer is only available if you apply for a new card, and not with product change. Does anyone have any experience?
