Our Verdict
This will stack nicely with the American Express offer for $20 offer $100+. If you don’t have any offer on any cards, make sure to use a card that earns at a high rate on office supply stores. They just recently had the same sale but on Visa gift cards.

Anyone know the limit of cards USPS will accept per MO? Used three fine, would like to up higher.
How can you use more than one gift cards on a MO at USPS? What are the steps I should tell the cashier? I assume MC/Visa GCs are not allowed, so what does one tell the employee?
Say you want to split the payment between two debit cards.
Not strict on two-per-person limit here in… depends on employee!
For these US Bank Mastercard gift cards, is the PIN the last 4 of the card number?
No, PIN is on a piece of paper attached to the card. You can call and change it via automated system.
I did about 16k in Visa Debit purchases two weeks ago at walmarts, spread out over 2 gift ink cards (cash and plus).
So, what are the chances of getting banned by chase if I do that again with this deal? I would love any input on this.
I spend about 2k/month in other charges (not 5x categories) on each card as well. I am really greedy and want the 75k points again, but not if itll cost me all of my chase cards…
Don’t think I’ve ever seen a ban for that sort of volume to be honest.
Thanks william. Of course I meant 16k at office depot. So if I do another 16k at office Depot for this deal it shouldn’t be a problem you think? So it will be 16k/ink card over less than a month… so just so i know, what volume have you seen to get banned when purchasing gift cards from office aupply stores? and I truly appreciate the info and advice William!
How did you manage 16k? Curious as one OD has been wndorcing the one purchase a day per person (up to $600.00.) manages to do that twice a day, and an extra 600 on occassion using a sub-card when person was available to make the purchase….and didn’t come close to 16k
I got 1.2k on almost every every trip (600×2 just said I needed to buy them on 2 separate cards and I was only told once that I cant do it twice). Have 2 office depots on my way to and from work and they always had different shifts. And one time they only had 2 cards left, so it worked out to 16k. I was pretty shocked myself when I realized how much I had done.
Yes, if there was a second store – most closed down in my area. That would have allowed double. Store is strict one-per-person (wish it was per card)
I don’t really like to give hard numbers, but more than $16k a month. That being said, other people have different profiles than you (e.g income and spending history) so do what you feel comfortable with.
Sure, a month. Thought we were talking about a single one-week promotion.
Walmart has a 4 card limit per MO purchase.
Anyone know if USPS has a card limit per MO?
(successfully used 3).
I didn’t know USPS takes prepaid card for MO. How much is the fee? I know kroger is only $0.49 but 2 stores near by refuse to take the prepaid card, saying it’s a fraud issue 🙁
Learned how it works – placing here for those not familiar:
– purchase said Master Card Prepaid Debit
– call the number and set a pin for each card
– go to Walmart and request money order
(You can only use up to 4 debit cards per trans.
– ask for casshier to enter card amount (per swipe)
– swipe your first card, wait about 10 seconds – hit the Cancel button.
– select debit – swipe – success
– you will
Forgive my idiocy, but is there some screen that prompts you to hit the Cancel button? And do you have to do this with all of your cards or just the first one per money order?
Thanks for the info.
this works well for the fidelity spend promotion which for me 5000 points for $1000 spend, was originally going to get a simon gift card to MS. But was able to get $600 in mc from office depot. they jacked up the fee for these 200 gc to 6.95 each and the .70 mo fees total 22.95. The $30 rebate paid for the fees plus and extra $7 in the pocket and most of the way to get the fidelity card bonus. Will either get another set or another method to get the rest of the MS needed. The only issue was getting the mo’s being a little time consuming as i would either need to try to do it all at once and raise suspicion with the clerk, or go 3 times to a store to get a mo
FYI: Trouble so far at two Walmarts trying to purchase MOs.
MC GC’s have been known to cause problems at Wal-Mart.
I just picked up 3 $200’s tonight for this promo using INK+. I am going to try to liquidate via USPS MO tomorrow. If it works, I will continue until they are all out of cards.
Push cancel and select debit as payment type…thr proceed as usual
Struck out 3 times trying to switch payment using the touch pad. Worked 3 times in a row when using the physical buttons, One of my favorite WM clerks was even trying to help me time the touch screen and encouraging me to try it again. I’m SURE she recognizes MC gift cards when she sees them. She’s a keeper.
Can you describe the method for “switching” payments – phyieical buttons?
MO with mc does work at kroger, unfortunately the clerk saw the last card after i put the pin in and told me that gift cards are not allowed to be used to purchase mo as per a policy they put in in 2015. He told me he let this one go, but not to do again. I think it was too late for him to stop since i already put the pin and as he was talking i confirmed the $ amount so was probably too much of a pain for him to void.
It was the first time I used mc for mo’s there usually only did visa with them never saying a word to me. First time with this clerk so he may be overly observant. I will simply avoid going to this guy in the future if i see him there will go to one of the other krogers nearby.
How is the limit enforced?
Is the limit on per store basis or whole of officemax?
Is it based on name or credit card number used?
It’s not really enforced, it’s basically just per visit. Some stores are a bit more strict and if a cashier recognises you they won’t sell to you. But nothing is hard coded.
